Re: Can't play offline

With the upcoming base game update on May 12, and even EA warning players about mod and CC issues beforehand, I genuinely want to ask: how can I stop my game from updating automatically forever? Every major patch breaks mods, creates new bugs, and turns the game into a stressful troubleshooting puzzle instead of something enjoyable. I spend more time resolving conflicts, checking for broken CC, and repairing saves than I do actually playing. Why do these updates keep introducing more problems instead of fixing them? At this point, I would honestly prefer to stay on a stable version of the game permanently. Is there an official way to completely prevent future updates without constantly fighting with the EA App?

The thing with Steam is that if purchasing a game published by EA, then it's linked. In such a case Steam will do as EA does. (they don't control that aspect. EA do.) You are right in such a case about not being able to get around it.

However for Steam games that are not linked to another platform, (like EA, or Epic, or Ubi) they allow more controll of updates. Generally that is. If not there are legit work arounds with Steam. Not the case with EA, or linked to EA.

I stopped linking acconts for game purchases years ago. It tended to cause problems. One launcher, one game has been my rule, and never any problems.  (That wouldn't solve the update problem with this game though.) There used to be other weird problems when linking game clients, before the forced updates.

Having said all that the forced updates are more aggressive than before.

Really not sure if there is anyway around it if using the EA App, (or Steam - linked to the EA App), as far as I can know.

I don't own the game. So what I wrote is what I assume. Good luck.

They force updates against your will. It doesn’t matter if you go offline or click “do not update,” and Steam almost feels like their accomplice at this point. They updated my game yesterday, and I'm so pissed!!. I didn't try to turn off the wifi... but don't you think that is too much???? For everything they try to “fix” in the game, 10 new bugs or glitches appear. Sometimes they’re new to me, and when I look them up online, I find people were already suffering from them years ago,  which means the same issues keep getting recycled. It breaks mods and CC, which is very necessary in this game. The autonomy in the game is awful, illogical, but needed if not they only stand by. These people are really testing the patience of gamers, creators, and everyone else in the worst possible way!

What happens is the exact opposite: for every thing they try to “fix” in the game, 10 new bugs or glitches appear. Sometimes they’re new to me, and when I look them up online, I find people were already suffering from them years ago, which means the same issues keep getting recycled. And the worst part is that they force updates against your will. It doesn’t matter if you go offline or click “do not update, also Steam almost feels like their accomplice at this point. On top of that, they break CC and mods constantly by changing supposedly “obsolete” code. At this stage, they should just tear the whole thing down and start over from scratch. Players get tired, stressed out, and the same thing happens to mod and CC creators.

same, it just did that to me. they are forcing updates. Probably because they know how many glitches and complaints are there, and this is there way of trying to less complaints or repeat glitches

you can go offline on your device then start the game. however, the EA app just logged me out twice for not being on Wi-Fi, while trying to start the game. They must know people are doing that and trying to prevent it. just another reason EA is a horrible company

TBH, not sure how with the EA app.

I know in Steam it's simple. For some games there is even the option to play older versions.

As far as I know no other platform (except GOG of course, simply don't update it.) offers no such functionality. Annoying, I agree.

EDIT: It's never going to be  a "new," function that will be added to the app. EA doesn't do that kind thing.

I don't want more updates either, each update broke more than fix anything, if them fix something. Bugs and glitches are repeated in loop. How can I do to stop the game doing the updates????

The “You've been offline for too long” error pops up for no reason. I was online just two minutes ago, and now this message is already showing up. I didn't want to update the game, so I switched to offline mode and immediately got this message. What kind of nonsense is this? Why are you forcing me to update?

The constant updates are KILLING ME because I don't have enough storage to keep downloading them. I've been trying to workaround it by going on offline mode, but now it's started to block me from doing that? I open the EA app, and go to offline mode, but then it says I need to log in again because I've been offline for too long. Totally fine, I can do that, but then it just keeps doing it no matter how many times I sign in. It's genuinely so frustrating I could cry. I can't exactly delete every single file from my laptop just to download some useless update to force more marketplace crap onto all of us.
