    Hey all,

    This issue should be resolved at this time. If you're still running into issues with The Sims 4 currently please fully restart the EA app and try your download again.

    Thank you for your patience while this was addressed.

    Update: If you're still seeing the "Update Required" message after the fix for this went live about 30 minutes ago please try clearing the EA app cache and let me know if that doesn't resolve the issue.

    Update: Please see additional steps here if you're still seeing the Update Required messaging.

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? Cant see, since I cant open up the game
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Non
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Dont know
What happens when the bug occurs? Im trying to download the sims 4. when I click on download and click download again, it only says preparing in the corner of the EA launcher. But it never start the download. Then after about 15 minutes it says: There's a problem with your download - Something went wrong during your download. Give us a few minutes, then try again'' and I have tried for 4 days to solve this
What do you expect to see? ''here's a problem with your download - Something went wrong during your download. Give us a few minutes, then try again'' - The download stops and i will have to try to download it again
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

What I have tried to solve this myself:

Uninstall EA , reinstall -> run as admin at all times = Dident solve it 

Uninstall EA , clean boot up of PC -> Run as admin = Dident solve it 

Clear the catche of EA = Dident solve it

Move my EA Games folder to anywhere and try to download the game, wait 30 seconds and copy any files from the new to the old EA Games = Dident solve it. My EA games files is empty since the game dosent even start the download. 

Download Origin and try installing the sims 4 = Dident solve it 

Firewall/anti-virus -> Anything EA should be able to run since iv checked it -> Dident solve it.

I have never had this problem with the sims 4 before. I unsintalled the game a year ago and now im not even able to redownload it again.

I have check my whole PC and I cant find a singel file left from the sims 4 nor any stuff packs etc

    Same problem. For months. When will this get resolved??? Clearly an EA app issue.

      I have found that setting my user access settings to the lowest possible setting allows my game to be updated.

    I have also had the same issue now. I cannot patch for the current update and so I have tried relocating files, uninstalling ea app and sims 4, I have tried running as admin I have done everything. There is nothing I can do on my end to fix this and I am kinda livid. I have the day off of work and wanted to play my sim but instead am met with yet another insanely buggy client... fix this EA and fix it quiiickly..

    Well they got the app a little closer to working. Not getting an error anymore but still not working.

    What I did was I took my EA App offline. I then tried to play my game right from the offline screen. It told me a repair was required so I clicked repair and it started repairing offline. I then put my app back online. My repair did stop at 14% and errored out, however I just clicked resume and it then resumed. It errored out again at around 71% but I just again clicked the resume download button and it continued to repair. Once the repair was done I was able to click update and it updated like normal and got to 100%. It would then tell me it was finished and ready to play, but then as soon as I clicked play it would just tell me an update was available. Did this over and over. So I still can't update it.... but no longer getting an error. I am able to play offline now though which I couldn't do before the repair.
