sailorleontine The idea of automatically locking threads that haven't had replies in a certain amount of time has been debated, but there are drawbacks that many of us think are not worth the convenience. Among other things, some users come back to their creative/storytelling threads after an extended absence, and they should be able to pick up where they left off.
As for checking manually, this site has over a million threads now, (the vast majority of which were ported over from Answers HQ or one of the fan sites), so the project would be effectively impossible to finish.
If you see an older thread that's getting replies, you can click the Report button and ask that it be closed.
