EA not letting me link my PSN account.
honestly pretty baffled and bummed about this. i got an invite to play the pre alpha for battlefield last weekend. i was super stoked to play it. when the game finally installed on my playstation it asked me to link my EA account with my PSN account. but because i changed my PSN name this previous december, EA wouldn't let me link to it even though both accounts share the same email address. i kept getting an error message saying that only one EA account can be linked to one PSN account in it's life time. It's the same account, but different name.
I put in 2 cases on saturday. i patiently waited 46 minutes to chat with a live agent. they were no help though, because they didn't have the ability to fix my issue. so they told me that they will contact the people who could help, and had to wait up to 72 hours. so i missed the whole playtest.
finally, AFTER 72 hours, i got an email from EA saying that they needed more information about my problem. even though the whole conversation i had with the live agent was on the case. so i emailed them my problem again because the email from EA help said that i could reply directly to that email. i haven't gotten any response, so i checked my cases, and they say "resolved" and "fixed."
nothing was fixed and nothing was done. didn't think it would be that difficult to find help with something like this but i guess it is pretty difficult.
so i hope someone from EA sees this and please don't respond saying that I should go talk to someone because i have, and nothing happened.
thanks
Hi big_gr0g,
Sorry to hear about missing the playtest due to this. It sounds like you may have two PSN accounts rather than just having changed the name previously. This is potentially why you're getting the message about the lifetime link, as your original PSN account is already linked to your EA account. If it were just a name change, then there probably wouldn't be any need to re-link anything. At least I didn't need to re-link my platform account when I changed my gamertag for my account on console a while back, although admittedly that is an Xbox account instead of Playstation, but it should be the same in theory.
Unfortunately, the only people who can access account details to make any changes are EA Help. It's just not something anyone on these forums can do for security reasons. I know you asked not to be recommended this, but I'm afraid that you will need to go back to EA Help to ask for their assistance with this. However, it may be worth trying a live chat instead of an email case. The steps below just gave me the option to initiate one, so hopefully they do the same for you.
- Choose the "EA Account" option on the EA Help site.
- Select "See all help topics" on the next page.
- Pick the "I want to move my stuff to another account" support option.
- On the next page, you should be offered a live chat. If the option does not appear for you, try the steps again in incognito mode and/or signed out of the EA Help site.
