Its been raised more than a handfull of times but EA, something has to change!
It is 2025, tech advancements mean that we dont just get better and more complex games but also cheats get better and more complex. However it's no excuse for EA to be basically the sole large game company that disregards the entire linux community.
I fully understand in more competative games such as Battlefield and some elements of sports titles, that adding Linux support for EA anticheat is maybe undesirable to the EA anti-cheat team or EA as a whole. But even with the advancements and invasion of privacy that Kernel level software brings, even the addition of measures like secure boot, Anti-Cheat remains an issue regardless.
Titles that are non competative have zero reason to be excluded from the enjoyment of the Linux gaming community, especially seeing as one of the largest and most popular hand held devices is Linux based and has now officially rolled out its software to other handheld hardware.
Skate, FC26, NHL, NFL all would be fantastic titles for both handhelds and for those in the linux community to enjoy, even if the competative side of those games wasnt available on linux, just casual or offline play. You used to provide support but slowly you have just disregarded a huge proportion of the gaming community and removed all access to any EA game with an online element. there is no reason a game like Skate. should be unplayable on linux due to anti cheat software, it does not need the same protections as a competative shooter such as Call of Duty, Battlefield etc.
EA, please start making better decisions for the community!
