OMG! Connect to server is ridiculous!
OK, I get the idea of checking for an up date. I can even understand checking licensing. Providing you have an active Internet connection of course. That being said.......
Forcing the issue on your customers and players every time the game is opened, then refusing to run if not connected to the Internet is beyond ridiculous and completely unacceptable!!!!!!
Here is my situation:
I have an environment that I work in with lots of "players" with there own gaming systems (PA & Xbox) that are using there GS to decompress and keep busy. They are NOT ALLOWED to have access to the Internet at all. So a constant problem that we have is that we open up an EA game that these kids want to play and they can't play them because your system insists on checking on "calling home" to your servers. (Let's be honest here, we all know this is a copyrights and licensing issue, taken to an extream)
So that essentially makes that none of your games can be played by any of these kids, it's absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable.
I keep reading "this is only for online games or games that have an online component". Well that is not what I have been seen for several years now. This happens to every game on or offline. Everyone of them!
What's the answer to this? Other than not buying your games anymore! Is there an actual workaround for this BS. Perhaps someone at EA can actually contact me not just a forum answer would be really nice.
Hey GlockASP any online requirements for console would be down to the platform owner and not EA.
If an Xbox or PS requires online access to verify game ownership then this is no something that we at EA can change. You would need to reach out to the respective platform owners for more info.
