Game will not launch via Play button on Steam (nothing to do with Origin)

UPDATE - ISSUE IS RESOLVED!

I did two things and now it is fixed.

1) in EA App go to Top left 3 lines, click help - App recovery - clear cache.

2) in Steam, right click Wild Hearts, properties, local files, verify game files.

It immediately changed the icon in the EA App from EA Play Pro to Steam. Everything is working now via Steam. Huzzah.

First thing's first: I migrated from Origin a long time ago. This has nothing to do with Origin.

Okay, so first some background: I bought the game on steam and got EA Play via steam to play the trial.  I quickly realized that the EA Play trial doesn't let you go past the gates and I was eager for more, so I bought EA Play Pro via the EA App to get early access.  The game wouldn't launch via Steam (Your game failed to launch, something on our end caused your launch to fail blah blah blah).  The EA App was still recognizing that I owned the game on Steam though (it said "Steam" at the top of the Wild Hearts icon in my collection.  For science, I deleted my steam install of the game, redownloaded it via the EA App, and now the game worked and I played a LOT leading up to today (the actual launch of the game).

Today, I decided to redownload the game in the Steam folder and launch from Steam.  Same error "Your game failed to launch".  I can still launch from the EA App with no issues, but not from Steam, so no Steam achievements and no steam overlay / friends functionality.  At this point, I launch the game from the EA App and.... something weird happens.  All of a sudden the icon in the EA App recognizes that the game is owned by STEAM and the EA Play Pro symbol goes away. Yay! I close the game and relaunch via Steam... SUCCESSFULLY!

Sweet, so at this point I uninstall the duplicate game install from the EA folder since I don't need 2 applications and I go to relaunch via Steam again and..... Failed to launch.  The icon on the EA App once again shows I only own the game via EA Play Pro.  I cannot launch from Steam again.

This is where I am at now.  I absolutely cannot launch the game via Steam, and thus I have no steam overlay, no steam friends integration, no steam achievements. I CAN still launch the game via the EA App, but that's because I have EA Play Pro active.

I believe the primary issue here is that the EA App cannot recognize that the same game is "owned" both by Steam and EA Play Pro. I need this issue fixed.  I hate the EA App. It is garbage. I want to play the game via Steam.

Please fix so when I press Play on Steam, it plays.
