Immortals of Aveum glitch

I am having this bug but much later on in the game. It started at the end of chapter 15. I was able to complete the visit to Seren. But everything after that fails. I have tried all your suggested steps except the safe mode one. I don't feel comfortable with that one. I was able to advance to chapter 16 with the help of a friend and share screen. But I can only advance if he is at the same place as me. The next area played the cut scenes, but after I beat the boss, there are no objectives or markers on screen or on the compass. No steps or information to proceed with the next objective. Another thing I noticed was all people I saw from previous areas are now missing, although you can hear them talking as if they were there. There are enemies, but that is all. Please help!
