It Takes Two Controller Issues

First time playing after downloading It Takes Two worked flawlessly. After closing out the game and starting back up the next day the controller is controlling both screens. Even at the character selection menu. Keyboard and mouse inputs are still registering, but overwritten by player 2 controller inputs. I've tried waiting until character selection screen to turn on the controller, but does not fix the problem. Using 1 keyboard/mouse and 1 xbox1 controller (via Bluetooth & usb wired) on windows 10.
