I have the exact same issue. Game purchased on Amazon in October. I just now got around to installing the game over the holidays to find it won't fully install, and I'm outside the Amazon return window. I've replicated the disc install problem on two different Xbox Series X systems. Exact same result stopping at 87%. No physical plastic layer scratches on the discs, though I see spots in the metallic layer that look off: micro-scratches or little pockmarks.
The discs were on sale through Amazon and now there are none. I'm wondering if a bad batch of discs - manufacturing defects - got flushed through Amazon. I've tried all solutions I can find online to no avail. I'm days away from the 90-day warranty on EA and going through the hassle of a return process on the physical discs and paying shipping to get them to EA without damage is not my idea of a good solution. Not to mention I'd risk EA claiming my disk is damaged and refuse a warranty replacement.
Did you purchase yours from Amazon? Any others running into this issue? Same purchase time frame or merchant? I'm curious if there's any other similarities.
I'd appreciate a response from EA if this is a known issue and some resolution that doesn't have the customer come out of pocket.
If this is some weird Xbox issue, tell us how to proceed. I've seen some articles about Xbox issues with disk reads, but I can't get any solution to work. Very frustrating as I've never had this problem before with any gaming consoles or disks (unless the disks were obviously damaged).
