Game Pass + EA Play Requires Product Key?

So I followed the instructions for linking my Xbox game pass and EA play account. Downloaded the desired game. But When i start a game it does the anti-cheat loading and comes back with me needing a product key. When clearly on EA desktop is says the game (star wars squadrons) is a EA play title.

EA desktop does not have a way to verify game files

EA desktop does not have a properties with product key like origin

Thinking Origin might work, Origin doesn't even acknowledge my EA play account.

I have Already:

Tried resigning in

After prompted for product code: Tried signing in again but my login failed.

Restarted PC

Restarted Xbox

Restarted Origin

Started Services in different Orders

Reinstalled the game

Checked network settings

Checked the countless other complaints about the service.

Also i noticed that you (EA) are sending people to Xbox customer support. If i click a game that opens in EA's desktop app. Xbox is not going to know what to do.

just want to add that me and my brother have the same issue.
We both have a Game pass subscription and we run into the same error for every game so far.
Basically we cant use it at all ☹️

@Loverock3t I also tried what you did but couldn't find the solution either.I hope they fix this soon

Been running into this issue. I'm signed into my EA that's linked to my Xbox account. EA desktop app also recognized my EA play subscription. As I try to launch the game I installed from EA desktop, it asks for a product key.

Hi all,
I have had exactly same issues, after doing some digging i realised my EA play/origin email was not the same one i use for my game pass etc, so i switch the emails and boom it worked.
check you havent registered another account in the past to your game pass email though as i had lol so had to shift that to another alternate.

Quick update. I don't know what happened but I launched from Xbox and now it works? The EA desktop app didn't even launch. ill take this as a fluke. And get back to you guys if it stops working.

@mintcake1980 Does switching the emails create a new EA account? last time i tried doing this with an EA customer support person before they told me it was impossible to do on two different emails after an hr in chat.

@Loverock3t Hi, no but you need to be sure that you havent created another account with your gamepass email previously else it wont allow you to change to that email on the profile you want to use. if you have nothing like that then you should just be able to edit your email in your profile setting and then log out/back in to ea \Desktop and you should be good

@Loverock3t Yeah i tried to launch from xbox and it worked.But it launched EA desktop app first.Now im playing without any problems.

The issue first happened with xbox launching EA desktop and me getting an error. I only was trying EA destop when troubleshooting xbox wasent working. Maybe EA just needed time to verify the game.
