i absolutely won’t be buying it this time round if my wheel is incompatible.
@Casual_Gamer9188 Feel free to wait until after the game has been released and the list of compatible peripherals has been confirmed before purchasing the game. No one is forcing you to pre-order the game 5 weeks before release and hope that your wheel is compatible with your purchase.
@TheRagebeardI'll preface by saying there's not a single reason to pre-order theses game.
Not being forthcoming with the list of officially supported peripherals while revving up the marketing and FOMO machines is unethical though. Even more so considering that even exceedingly common hardware like Logitech G923 had such a disastrous support on launch, with basic features being disabled across all platforms for months while they finally managed to cook a simple slider to tune the haptics intensity on consoles.
I'm mostly with you though. We're basically 40 days before the release and EA has a clear drip-feeding strategy going on, with a bunch of videos and content teases scheduled for weeks. This impatience for the fine details of what will be featured in this year's game is exhausting – and all the "why so mysterious" demanding verging on petulant, in my opinion 🙃.
But while it is one thing to expect info on say if the dashboard of a niche enthusiast $1.500 Soelpec steering wheel will be supported, I find it particularly unpleasant – to put it mildly – to withhold info on widespread entry hardware like basic Logitech and Thrustmaster wheels while cramming promotional "get it now!!!" content everywhere. Specially considering it is yet another conservative entry on an annual franchise with no apparent changes that should impact on peripheral compatibility.
Now I'll conclude by repeating there's not a single reason to pre-order these games. Lord almighty, c'mon, let us all wait for honest reviews! Nothing divulged so far justifies a pre order!
@mariohomoh It was your third and fifth paragraph that was the primary point of my post. As you point out there's really no reason to be rushing into anything. Early Access is 5 weeks from tomorrow and all EA's really done is shown a bunch of fancy looking videos that promise a lot...but who knows who much of that they'll actually deliver.
Which is why in way EA not releasing the supported wheel list could actually be doing people of favor. If they saw the list, and saw their wheel was on it, they might go ahead and pre-order and then be disappointed with the end product anyway. Now maybe they'll wait and actually see some reviews before purchasing.
I know I don't have to tell you this but it's a messy situation however you want to slice it up.

That's some gymnastics going on there.
EA can do better. And they are not doing anything right by acting improperly here just if so happens that it indirectly decreases their pre-order sales.
It's a racing game. That steering wheel people bought has no other use than to play racing games. It's fair for consumers to know if their peripheral will be supported before purchase, and it is unfair from the publisher to withhold that info without reason – while asking for people's money already.
Not entirely sure how to respond to being labelled petulant. I don’t think it’s petulant to want to know whether or not I should spend a small fortune on a game that I can’t even get full use out of.
I am new to steering wheel setups, so yeah I have entry level gear. I love F1 and I bought my wheel solely for F1. To have it work for a few weeks and then lo and behold, they patch it out, is actually quite frustrating and downright disgusting. I think I have every right to want to know if my wheel works before I give them any more of my money. EA seems to have the time to put together all their marketing and constantly tweeting about pre-ordering - so yeah, why so mysterious about this?
