Calling PS4/Ps5 wheel Users

That's a great tip actually thank you - I play career mode and know that it's super difficult on the out-lap for example because you always lose a few seconds to the AI and they also don't struggle noticeably for wear!

We also have AI in our little friends league and Coop career. Interestingly - the AI seem 10% better in online modes? Not sure if others have noticed or if this has been reported. Plus WAY more aggressive than the already agressive single player.

I am very interested in what other G29 users setup their wheels like though - it's difficult to find the sweet spot this year. There isn't much feeling to it. It's really 'lazy' or springs back like a boomerang, particularly in steering.

There also seems to be some degree of input lag on G29 so not sure if anyone else has noticed.

Hey, I have had a G29 since July with softer spring brake mod. Looking at your calibration the main thing that screams out at me is the brake saturation is maybe way too high. With it that high your brakes are like an on/off switch so it may be difficult to trailbrake consistently and smoothly, therefore raising tire temperatures and causing slow laps.

The original brake pedal on the G29 is too stiff so it's a requirement to turn up saturation but the mods should allow you to lower it quite a lot. I went from 50 to now 8 but I've also built up strength in my leg. I'm pretty consistent (at least for me) when I drive in my team.

In terms of the wheel settings, I don't know really. I play F1 2021 but I did play F1 22 when the free weekend was on. I found that the feedback was generally lacking and weak. I used the same settings I used in F1 2021. Just to add, I play the PS4 F1 2021 version on my PS5 as there is a clear difference in feedback strength in the two versions with PS5 version being very weak. Even when the strength FB strength is ramped up, it never achieves the same level. I think the problem still remains on F1 22.

I use FFB strength at 80, and the rest of the FFB options at 25 and wheel damper at 5. It was at 75 which meant a heavy, smooth wheel but then I realised I could never catch the spins because I could never feel the back go loose and the wheel was too heavy. At 5 I've never had more fun pushing the car and catching spins and oversteer, plus it comes in handy in the wet as you feel the fronts go far more (coupled with oversteer enhance on). Wheel rotation is set to 320.

I read through your post and some things called my attention.

Over here in Brasil we don't have this TruBrake v2 mod but from what I got it's a softer spring, right? I conversely preffer to use a stiffer spring because our body memorizes easily the ammount of force applied rather than the distance covered by our foot. In this sense, I have a stiffer spring with two different elastic coefficients plus the original g29's rubber composite which I calibrate as follows: 0 for both linearity and deadzone. I adjust the saturation by pressing the brake until the pedal reaches the rubber composite inside it and moving the saturation switcher until the calibration reaches 80%. If I'm not wrong, for F1 22, my brake saturation is set to 40-45.

Still on the softer springs, you can increase the throttle linearity to help avoiding spinning. Or a stiffer spring on the throttle pedal too - which is what I've made. The effect is the same through different approaches.

As for the FFB settings, I use exactly the same, except for the wheel rotation which I set to 350. As @TotosHeadphones said, the FFB this year is lighter, but not so far from 2021 at all.

Bear in mind that this year the aerodynamics work differently, most of the aero support comes from the ground effect, this mean that one has an amazing grip on high speed but low speed corners, and more precisely their exits, are compromised as the wings don't provide enough support as last year so yes, the car this year feels more pointy.

You sound like a experienced player and I don't wanna sound pretentious at all but I hope this help you somehow.

I started using a wheel on racing game and sims back in 2012 with an F1 1994 mod for rFactor. After a lot of practice, I was able to match Ayrton Senna’s real life pole time around 1994 Imola using the same FW16. It’s worth noting I’ve never used any driving assists nor have I used anything other than cockpit view

in the 10 years since, with the various games and sims, I’ve fiddled with settings just like you have but ultimately, I’ve adapted my driving style to the game/sim and it wasn’t long ago when, after adapting to F1 22, I went back to try the some of the older F1 games by CM starting with F1 2015 with them on the same settings I left them on when I used to play them to death and it was like going back to school. Sometimes you just need to adapt and there is some adapting to do with F1 22. I’ll give my settings and recommend to just try them and I don’t do much from the default settings. I just bump up the FFB to 150, turn on the understeer enhance and the only calibration adjustment I have is the steering deadzone which is set at 1 as I feel the car just wanders a little on 0. Not sure how my settings will work with a G29 as I use a Thurstmaster T-GT2 with an SF1000 wheel and T3PA Pro pedal set, but give it a go. 

I have a rig and seat so it isn't that. I actually tried the blue but went for the green in the end. Its basically that high because by the 3nd of a race, my foot is knackered ha ha! But yes, I take the point about the saturation being way too high. I started running about 20 to begin with but my foot was dying by the end. Maybe I'll try the blue again and see how it goes!

I take all the points so far and I totally agree - it's about finding the balance.  I was probably misleading to begin with, I'm not struggling as such just haven't found my settings for 22 after getting the game in July. I've been confident and worked up to 100-110 AI every year and have been using this setup in various guises since 2020. When I started with it, I was sat on the floor with the wheel on the coffee table ha! Now I'm on a GT Lite seat which is great for me.

I will be looking to upgrade in future but for now, the G29 is still going strong. The pedals have been apart and back together hundreds of times with various springs, potentiometers etc... I probably could have just bought a fanatec rig for the money I e spent but hey ho. It's getting it past the wife that's the hard part!!

@BadMayh3m @Hey mate, I've tried the 3 that came with it and I went for the thickest (no deadzone) so the brake is STIFF which is kind of how I like it. I'd actually prefer a bit more play in the pedal but with TruBrake it just seems to act as a deadzone as opposed to adding a mechanical braking curve if that makes sense
