Drag reduction upgrades not working as intended

Product: F1 22
Platform:Steam-PC
Summarize your bug Drag reduction upgrades not working as intended
What is your 16 digit Report Code? JAMB-TDGC-JJEK-TGTE
Which area is the bug/glitch in? My Team
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Did you have cross-play enabled? Yes
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Just to be clear, this bug is only affecting the car's drag reduction upgrades, not the DRS upgrades. All the other upgrades work as intended. 1. Have an upgraded MyTeam car. Doesn't have to be maxed out, but it should have at least 3-4 drag reduction upgrades to see any meaningful difference. 2. Join a practice/qualifying/race session. 3. Use any setup you wish. I used 0-0 wings in Baku for maximum top speed, but any setup should work. 4. Go to the track. Doesn't matter if you use "Drive out" or "Flying lap". 5. Check your top speed at a big straight. I managed to hit 360kph in Baku with 0-0 wings and a maxed out MyTeam car in the big straight with DRS open and ERS set to Hotlap. I'm using the Ferrari engine, but it's irrelevant in this case. 6. Press "Restart session". 7. Apply the same setup as before to compare top speeds. 8. Go to the track. Again, doesn't matter if you choose "Drive out" or "Flying lap". 9. Test top speed again at the big straight in Baku with DRS open and ERS set to Hotlap. The car is now ~10kph faster than before. Nothing has changed in the setup and there was no tow from another car in front. There shouldn't be any difference in top speed, or at least it should be within margin of error compared to the first run. NOTE: This bug applies to career mode as well with any car, but it is more prevalent in MyTeam, since the MyTeam car has the most drag on the grid. You can replicate it by following the same steps in career mode.
What happens when the bug occurs? Car is ~10kph faster in the 2nd run compared to the 1st. It's like the game doesn't take into account the drag reduction upgrades until you press "Restart session". Also it is necessary to go out on track at least once before restarting the session. Restarting without going out on track doesn't give the extra 10kph, the top speed is similar to the aforementioned 1st run in that case.
What do you expect to see? Negligible difference in top speed. 10kph more with the same setup, during the same session and without tow is unreasonable.

I'm attaching 2 screenshots. 1st run I managed 360kph. 2nd run I managed 369kph.

  • @johnmaha7 Think your on to something. Did read this when you first posted. But only got time to play yesterday. I’m going to put a new post in the main forum asking my teamers and career racers to test this. Not saying your wrong. Far from it. I think your right. But EA and CM will only investigate when more people report the bug. I’ll tag you to the post.

@ScarDuck14 We seriously need to test this as soon as F1 23 launches next week, so that it can be fixed in the game cycle unlike F1 22 which still has this horrific bug

@Nicolas_SV5 I played a bit yesterday and it seems this bug doesn't exist anymore. The car has the same top speed before and after pressing "restart session". I'll post an update if I encounter this bug again but right now it seems like it has been fixed.

@johnmaha7 alright, thanks for that. It's usually more effective/noticeable on later seasons, when there are a lot of ipgrades applied, we'll then know for sure+

@Nicolas_SV5 I tried it with 5 out of 6 drag reduction upgrades researched, so I doubt the 6th one would make any difference. In F1 22 you could see a difference even with only 2 or 3 upgrades.

@johnmaha7 Oh that is brilliant to know, thanks a lot for testing this out for us John, legend. I was sick of having to restart every session in F1 22 just to have respectable straight line speed.

If things go to plan I should have a major drag upgrade for next race at Baku.  Hopefully I can add to Johns findings.
