Re: Discussion - New Sprint rules for 2023

Nice, I hope you will enjoy it! Interlagos is an amazing track.

I attended Spa in 2021 (the one with 2-3 laps under SC😥) and 2022 where they announced Audi. The circuit is at about 100 km from my home.

No plans yet of going this year though. Get ready to spend quite a lot on food and drinks if you plan to stay for the entire weekend. It's very very pricey. I recommend you bring your own food and drinks at the track.

    Hi there,

I agree with you, I mean the new format is ok, more racing and who wants to practice can still do it (e.g. McLaren today in Baku). Probably the main issue is about tracks, Interlagos is one of the best for Sprint for sure, probably Spa is good as well, but not all the tracks are ok, today we have seen an hard racing in the first lap then just an easy overtake by Perez in the straight.

Useless to add it would be so nice to have the new format in F1 23 videogame, even in a following patch if necessary.

And BTW I would be glad to exhange one of my Imola-Monza attendations (often with big rain as well 🥳) with one Spa and Interlagos! 😎

  • @NuvolarixÍmola is a dream to come true (hopefully) in some years.

So, after the first weekend of the new format, what are your thoughts on it?
Honestly, I found it to be boring as much as the former format and I think that 2 tweaks could improve it:
    1. Points for everyone. Otherwise why would anyone racing in P13 push hard to get P10 if this position wouldn't be kept for the main event?
    2. Tyre allocation. I do like the idea of locking Hards for SQ1, Mediums for SQ2 and Softsfor SQ3, thus allowing slower cars to use fresh quicker compounds.

As a matter of fact I would do one-shot qualifying (80-90s taste... delicious! haha) for the sprint race and H-Q1, M-Q2 and S-Q3 for the main event.

@EA_Hux Spa '21 was painful. The races in Europe broadcast by the monrgin here in Brazil and I remember of giving up waiting, going to the super market, starting to cook lunch and then... 2 laps under SC. If I was outraged and I was confortably at home, I can imagine what you felt! haha

Think the sprint races would benefit from names drawn out off a hat to determine poll👍😁

Just seen this thread by the way…. @EA_Hux  I know you’re a big F1 fan.  We would love your input on the megathread posted above.    As you can see no one really ventures onto this board.
