@EA_Atic Anyone left here? 🙂 this issue is now present since more than one week, and still the game is not able to be started. Any updates on that??

@emerica1989 If their words are true then they're investigating the issue (along with the similar issue happening on PC as well), who knows how long that's gonna take, though.
  • @Gibswal What a surprise 🙂 It's always the others' fault. Maybe we should tell steam to put this game off from deck‘s compability list because it‘s not really compatible any more.

i would have expected this from EA/CM directly since this is severe misleading for new customers. At least you can easily refund a newly bought game at steam. But it is still necessary to get this up to date all the time since you choose to buy a steam deck based on the compatibility list.

After yesterday's mini update still stuck on crashing on startup! But can anyone tell us if it's Valve or EA's fault? It is not possible to have bought a game and not be able to use it (game that worked great before that * patch !!!)

@ringhio992 Well I know that hiding a game crash/defect to consumers whilst being aware of it has triggered class action lawsuits before. If people are buying this game for £50 and still not being able to play it, then I think it's justified

@ringhio992The games was verified long before release. Valve didn't reach out to EA to get it verified, EA would of asked Valve to make sure its verified before putting it on the store. EA went out of their way to make it work on SD prior to launch, Valve didn't make the game and Valve didn’t release the 1.09 update. Also it is possible to buy a game and not be able to use it, unless you live in some alternate universe where EA gives a sh**?

  • This is definitely a patch 1.09, not Valve Steam issue, as verified by the Deck users who have downgraded to version 1.08 and have the game working. For any Deck users who would like to do this, please see https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/wuxbkq/comment/imhyp0s/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3.

@EA_AticCan you confirm whether or not the devs are working on a fix, please? If not, then I think we Deck users will have to return the game. Thanks.

  • but please !!! I don't know who was wrong and how I only know that I am a user who paid for a game not to play it anymore !!!

I issued a refund request to Steam support. I only got in 2 hours of playtime before patch 1.09. My request has been declined as I bought the game more than 2 weeks ago.

@steviebuzz1 That's disgusting. If EA could actually wake up and sort this, everyone would be happy. In effect, they have sold people a product which claims compatibility of its respective device, which we now know isn't fully compatible. Legally that's not good for them

If anyone is having issues getting a refund, and if you're in the united states, contact your state consumer protection agency.

If they get enough of these they'll send this to the AGs office for unfair consumer practices.

@meditationglas So I buy the game to play on SD because it has a green verified check so I dont even bother to look on line about the game on SD. Then it wont launch and I find all kinds of things about this on the net. Not part of the game isnt working as advertised but it wont launch, it is useless. The gaming industry has turned into buyer beware.

@57c8f68321dc240f Absolutely. I was annoyed enough when the game stopped working, but when there was a stop to the responses from EA and Valve refused my refund, it all left a very bad taste in my mouth.

@steviebuzz1I am about to try this, my dad has like 5 hours on the game and has managed to (Possibly) get a refund through steam support.
On steam go to "Help > Steam Support > F1 22 > I am having a problem with Steam Play on Linux > Contact Steam Support > Contact Steam Support" (Don't just request a refund). Tell them the issues you are having and what you have tried to do to resolve it, don't try to get a refund immediately. Just explain to them the problem and you will have to jump through some hoops, but you will be speaking to an actual person and not just receiving the automated responses which always get denied.
Like I said, My Dad is pretty sure he will get a refund, but he is not 100% sure, He is just waiting on a response now. I will update this thread if he does or what my results are, I have like 100 hours though, so I am not overly bothered but wish me luck regardless :D. Hope this helps somebody!
