Well, one point isn't half of three, but I get the sentiment... š

Netherlands were the better side, but the Soviet Union kept it tight at the back and one single break out was enough for a single goal and the win. And then he said the famous words: "We scored a goal and won, that's two points, but you already get a point for keeping a clean sheet. That's half of the work."
Nice! I suppose Oranje had the last laugh though, in that particular tournament.

Hard to believe you are now back in the title race and having a chance to win the treble. Last I read through, it looked like Ajax were falling apart and big changes were coming. Then the new formation happened, I expected a positive finish to the season with momentum for next year but you blew those expectations away. This is turning out to be a possible legendary season for Ajax with this type of league comeback.

10-3 on aggregate, that's some scoreline. Impressive! You might be a bit disappointed with conceding the three goals in 11 vs 10 situations. But obviously the win was never in doubt, so I suppose it wasn't the worst time to let the guard down.
Advancing to play another Belgian side next, Club Brugge. Let's see if you can put 10 in against them too.

What a streak for the young Misehouy fellow. I wasn't even familiar with him, and now he's apparently scored in four consecutive games. Awesome.

These results are starting to look like Ajax results we are used to. Dominanting teams in the ECL is not a surprise but the amount of goals scored was. The team has not slowed down scoring in the league either.
Man United beating Rangers is a funny coincidence since our Man United fan on these boards is currently using Rangers!
Newcastle v Liverpool looks like the best draw in the next round to pay attention to as well.

"Maybe I'll give him his debut towards the end of the season"
If he's really good, you might find that promoting him and then playing him a couple of times before the season's end actually ruins his potential as you move into next season. I don't think the so-called "dynamic potentlal" bugs have been fixed.
Unless he demands to leave the academy soon, I'd leave it until the start of the next season to promote him from the academy.
I've got a couple in my academy that I'm trying to avoid promoting until the next season for that very reason. - JustinCase01102 years agoSeasoned Veteran

I have the same experience, but recently I've noticed that newly promoted academy players don't necessarily take a cut in their potential on June 30th. I'm not sure about the mechanisms here though, so I probably wouldn't take the risk, but just leave it until the new season before promoting him (unless he threatens to leave).
However, if we're talking about a potential short term starter, then I wouldn't be too concerned about a little drop in potential. If he plays regularly in the next season, he can recover the lost potential again. It would probably require for him to play in almost every game though.

Great season so far, you have made quick work of turning Ajax around to get them back on track. Using the young players to bring new life to the club and get them playing like Ajax is known for.
Difficult game against AZ. Very surprising result right when it looked like Ajax were going to go on to win the cup this season.

Never a good way to go out, losing by such a great margin. But on the other hand, being 2-1 down at half time, why not risk it? Better lose 5-1 and have tried to get the equalizer, than to play it safe and go out with a more - on paper - respectable 2-1 defeat. Fun to see a cup final without the presence of any of the three greats; Ajax, PSV, Feyenoord. Now I cheer for AZ in the final, then at least you lost to the best. And also because of a Danish hattrick in the semi final. Gotta love that.

Sometimes, you find that it's not your day, no matter what you try. This match was obviously one of those.
I had a match against Bournemouth just like that. Lost 6-2. Insane. - Danimal59812 years agoSeasoned Ace
