any sort of instruction manual for the game?

Hi -

my kid just got this for a birthday present...

Is there any sort of instruction manual? He is fumbling his way thru...but a bit of instruction would be just the thing!

I have never seen a game without instructions. This is lazy and cheap... and I don't want a "show" (tutorials) to have to watch for 10 minutes to learn something as simple as how many sims are in a megatower after building a floor.
EA has really gone down!
