Same thing for me. The frustrating thing is, the first couple of batches of youth players generated where fine. I have stuck to the OG save file from day1 & noticed after the 1st round of updates it seemed to completely nullify any playstyle + being generated for new YA players.
The sad thing is, the first career mode i started is not the one i play now (im in season 7 with bradford city in the prem), and now my whole career is messed up, due to this. I play as realistically as i can, so this hurts, and unfortunaltely i never got to experience the one which you talked about, and even if i was to return to a day 1 save, the abilities would still be messed up, like you said ☹️
