Anyone still on the forums from the old 4-3-3(5) threads and planning on playing this year? I quit fifa 23 in November last year lol, but back to do Chelsea P&P RTG and England P&P RTG and will be u...
@freddfranca Might be an option, although I don't really like having 2 similair strikers, when I do have 2.
Have been looking at stupid things like the 4141 or 4132, putting 1 fullback on inverted and get forward and all midfielders on free roam, with the striker on stay central.
Basically a 3241 formation with lots of movement with a striker acting as the pivot instead of the cdm
Rolfö, Kuyt and the attacking trio are the tradeable ones.
Bought in Laudrup as my first icon on FC24, he doesn't have "technical" as I've had on most of my attacking players so far, but Donovan did really well without it so excited to try him out.
Diani was one of those players that always appeared in my filters, but didn't fit my team.
Slapped an engine on Le Sommer, considered artist, but want her to have great short passing, and wanted the option to use her out wide if one of the wingers feels more like a CF in game. Hopefully she'll be an ambipedal machine, able to pass, shoot and head (if I get chances to win duels with her, the opponent has probably made a mistake) Of course I would've liked to try Hegerberg as a Norwegian, but she just doesn't look technical enough
To finish it off, I brought in Kuyt.
Most of my team are really small, so corners was problematic against opponents that had practiced it a lot. Rudiger often defended the back post and I really had no one else to help out defend nearer the goal, and if they knew what they were doing they would just hit it back post if I brought him forward. Kuyt has a total in-game stat of 2320, which points to a more complete player than guys like Pirlo, Xavi, Seedorf, Veron, Xabi, Scholes, Petit, Lahm, Essien, Keane etc. who are some of the other guys I really liked for the position. (But couldn't afford either way due to buying Laudrup). Kuyt has some interesting stats, with Jockey-trait, block-trait, whipped pass and power header, combined with really decent passing (85 vision, 84 short pass), very good physicals and the shooting-ability of a pretty good forward. I choose to give him a "guardian" to get his balance and defending up a bit.
He also can play RM in my 3-4-2-1 and he and Modric can probably run for days, helping cover the fullbacks when they go up, helping supporting attacks and helping to break them down.
The plan feels really good right now, can't wait to play some really sweaty games, in a game where I haven't yet reached Div 2. Normally I'd be up in elite div now, but just have leaked to many goals. (And recently learned to use the right stick more when using R1, which would've helped against users that defend quick passing really well, but doesn't expect dribbles)
Gonna miss Messi, he was still truly special, even with his "low" rating. Really smooth dribbler as expected, didn't need to sprint normally really as the technical+ made him just as fast with just holding R1. His fast reactions and composure made him able to finish well in tight situations. Think he had about 2 G+A per game for me and will probably bring him back at some point.
Shoutout to Patri Guijarro as well, if I had both her and Frenkie as untradable, I would probably have booted Frenkie and not her. A great two-way player with sublime passing, long shots and defensive ability. Shame that the game wanted her to defend my front post 😃
Edit: Actually sold Laudrup without trying him and went for Suker, same logic as Kuyt. Not the best player ever, but really helps my aerial weakness. Doesn't have the "shot power" weakness of Laudrup and offers some more strength, the technical playstyle and hopefully some great trivelas.
I am struggling to play a possession game, specially with the girls. Tha pressure is insane, O barely can breathe before someone comes like a truck and take the ball away....
The only dream I have is that my players obey what I am pointing them to do. I am tired of passes going completely wrong, all balls intercepted, opponent CB running like a tank and taking every ball....
Really, I think this year I will quit before Christmas
So many 4-2-4s with the 4-2 in their own box and no involvement from the attacking 4.
I've said it for years, EA needs to nerf the 40 yard R1-pass/clearances.
I think it's fair that an underdog can play deeper and spam the ball forward, but if the ball connects with the forwards every single time, that's bad coding.
Found that my best bet was to play my 3-4-2-1 to have one CB defending the wide area, that people love to spam through, with the winger coming back on the other side.
Played some 4-3-2-1 and 4-3-3(5), but aggressive fullbacks get really punished against people like that.
Think I faced Kim Min-Jae twice, once as a sub. Yet he scored 3 overhead kicks against me from corners. (One of my opponent even subbed him on when struggling and scored two overhead kicks). Anyone got any tips? It seems like my player glitches when the corner kick is taken as the ball is locked into the animation..
Anyways, got to 60 points and gave away some wins.
The french girls were quite disappointing unfortunately.
Diani had 13 goals and 5 assists, Le Sommer got 12 goals and 9 assists.
Best from picks and packs were Donnarumma and Militao.
With the money from the rewards I picked up a new attack consisting of Neymar, Oshoala and Rodrygo. Think Neymar will be a fine CF.

@freddfranca Mate I'm the same, you literally can't get any options in the middle playing against someone with 71 depth. The possession style is practically dead for me and, as much as I don't like him, Inceptions video on the state of the gameplay hits the nail on the head
Basically just play the 3-4-2-1 right now as it plays very well against all the "meta" formations.
Which are mostly 4-4-2 variations.
Against the higher press ones I always have wide outlets in my RM/LM and the CFs that drops to find space.
Against low press the CFs really get too much time on the ball.
The RM/LM are very good at timing the runs and just destroys people who plays very narrow in their defensive shape.
If they push up their CBs or invert their wingbacks to stop my CFs it just opens up a lot of space for someone else.
Frenkie might not look like a conventional CB, but I really like to have him as CCB to progress the ball through his ability to carry the ball, switch the play and play through the lines.
Getting in Acuna and Oshoala has been a revelation, they're so strong and always win their 50/50s. (In 10 games Acuna has 4 goals and 2 assists so far in, whilst Osho has scored 12 times and has 9 assists)
Rodrygo and Neymar are just fun, dropping a bit deeper as CFs to help control the tempo of the game.
If I had the time to play more today I'd probably reach Div 2 today.
Also reached lvl 29 today and packed Messi in the pack, Gundogan was the walkout however 🤔
I was probably getting him back at some point, he'll start as a sub as the team is really vibing right now, but when the MLS get's more special cards he'll probably be right back in. (Could get him on 2 chem with Veron and booting out the women of the team, but really like them, even kept Rolfö as a RM/LM-sub)
Got Xabi from the Icon SBC and well chuffed with that. Thinking about a new team and he helps with chem and is one I will use lots as he is one of my favourite former players.
After failing 3 times in a row on WL to get 11w I switched to 433(5). 4 wins in 5 games and one draw in DIV4 left me impressed. 1 attacking CM and 1 attacking fullback gives me lots of passing opportunities upfront and wingers are cutting in like always. Nothing too fancy, but it works!
Once again I'm full of motivation to start my WL and FINALLY get that 11wins 🤣 Few new names in my team too; Blanc (sbc), Petit (Icon SBC). Still need to get new attacking CM to replace Llorente and I'm good to go.
What results are people here getting on WL? 10Wins is my best now which is funny cause last year I could get 11w's even blindfolded lol
@JOHN_D_EFC Sure. GK: Sweep Keep, Come for crosses Cbs: none RM: GIB, Stay wide LM: Come back on defense, GIB, Stay wide CMs: Stay back LCF: Come back on defense, F9 RCF: F9 ST: None
The come back on defense is kind of weird, but it's to make a 4-4-2 shape when defending deeper. The LM will drop back to LB and the LF drops back to LM. This also means that the LCF will take a bit deeper positions after regaining the ball and take care of some more deep playmaking than the RCF.
PAPL W: 34 D: 61 Slow Build Up Possession W: 88 PIB: 6 corners and free kicks are at 2. (But I rarely score either) Oh and you need to activate the "Stay wide" on the D-pad to really stretch the pitch.
