Well done EA (genuinely)

I really don’t get a lot of the hate for FC25. I’ve been playing FIFA since its first ever iteration in the 90s and we’ve been waiting for a career mode that FEELS like a game of football for a long time.

This year we’ve been given the massive overhaul that so many wanted. The new academies are great, youth tournaments are great and best of all is the way the game feels. It’s hard to score, just like a real game of football.

Finally a career mode where I enjoy each game as a battle rather than winning or losing 4-3 every week.

Well done EA.

@Vornander084 Calling it a massive overhaul is slightly exaggerated, isn‘t it? We still see problems and bugs that have been around for years now:

-CPU makes way too many and completely unrealistic transfers, so that some teams look unrecognizable after three/four transfer windows

-CPU ‚forgets‘ to renew contracts, so that some teams are left with only 18 or so players at the start of the new season. This also leads to a continuously growing pool of free agents, since CPU signs free agents very, very rarely

-Contract lengths of both female and male players are often incorrect

-CPU still doesn’t always select the best players for the starting lineup, instead chooses some 70 rated or academy players and benches the regular starters

All of the points made above are somehow objective. Concerning your subjective feeling that the gameplay was improved, yes, I also like the simulation mode for example, since it slows down the game which comes closer to a real football game. However, I play on Legendary (5min per half) and I experienced at least 40+ games in Career Mode with 8 or 9 goals. Some I won 6:1, 5:4, 9:2, some I lost 4:1, 5:1, 6:0. So in the end, still miles away from providing all players a pleasant gaming experience.

  • Career Mode is still broken imo. Some good ideas this season that miss the mark by some distance.

The UI is horrific. Truly. Probably the worst one so far. A labyrinth of boxy, convoluted options that needs massively refined.

Persistence with repetitive, stupid cutscenes - It was fun for the first few times when it was added years ago, but I'm sick of having to go through it for every single signing/contract negotiation/press conference/etc. Give me the old simplistic career mode menus!

Youth Academy is bugged. Some attributes are broken. A lot of the players look like alien children with monobrows who never physically change after turning 16.

The style-of-play/hiring coaches element is poor and ultimately irrelevant. Should be removed imo. The new tactics options are decent (although they succumb to the same horrific UI issues), but this should be the model going forward.

The new social media element feels pointless. Very rarely noticeable/relevant when the game is progressing through days. Probably more to do with terrible UI.

The rush tournaments also feel poorly thought out. Would rather do actual Youth training games/mini games.

The new options to cater to the experience you want are decent, but also unsurprisingly broken. For example, if you disable the training element, your players will never gain any match sharpness.

Problem we have is that EA will never just dive in and fix things with Career Mode. It make zero financial sense to fix anything that isn't UT. We'll just have to complain about it for the whole year and wait for a new game to hope they finally get it right.

So yet again, too many misses and too many bugs. Not sure why you think they deserve a "well done", but hey, each to their own.
