black screen upon starting

i've been playing the game on my PC for months. Suddenly, without ANY software or hardware changes whatsoever, when the game loads up, after the initial screen that confirms the choice of a settings profile, the green triangular loading icon loads up as usual at the bottoms of the screen, but that's it. it is turned off right after that, I can hear the EA commercial ("EA SPORTS, it's in the game"), but the screen is completely black. nothing else happens... HUH??????
