• Did TOTY feel exciting and rewarding this year? Why or why not?
o Absolutely not. For me, TOTY always just feels so out of reach. Cards I'll never pack. Cards I'll never use. This year, they were even further away.
TOTY has devolved into a money driven promotion. Get the streamers to spend thousands of dollars and influence the normal gamer to spend more money opening packs that have horrible pack weights. Little Johnny thinks when he see's a streamer pack one that its possible with his $20, not realizing the streamer has spends thousands.
It's poorly structured (for the user atleast...well structured to force players to the store). The way content is released, you know people will be excited and open packs ASAP. Many will waste fodder early on and by the time the whole team is released your left twiddling your thumbs. That goal is to get rid of players fodder to force them to the store to spend $$$.
o To be clear, I understand the goal for a business is to make money, but you all need to find a balance between giving players something that's actually engaging and makes us feel like we're more than cash cows to you.
o I get it, the best of the best cards can't be packed by everyone. I agree. But what it should be, is attainable to that person who wants to grind hours and hours. Why not have an SBC for a guaranteed TOTY Striker, TOTY Mid, TOTY Def. . .price them however you want. But there needs to be a way to obtain these cards if you enjoy playing the actual game. It has to be an endless opportunity to grind cards that you can pump into SBCs. THAT is fun. THAT is engaging. THAT is rewarding your customer who enjoys actually playing your game. Isn't that what EA FC is actually about??? Playing the game. . .NO, its not anymore. Now its about pointing players to the store to spend MORE money on a game they have to pay for in the first place.
• Was it clear what content was coming and when?
o Yes, but more so because of leakers, not EA. You guys do a good job of laying out the plan and the advertisements and what not. . .but the fact that even before you do that most of the community already knows the EVOs, SBCs, and Promo cards totally ruins the experience. You really need to find a better way of keeping that information out of the gamecode or however these folks are finding it.
It ruins trading, it ruins investing, it ruins the fun.
• How did you feel about the daily content during the event?
o There was alot of daily content that was fun but yet again. . . the mistakes where some people benefit and others don't is absolutely cruel. Anyone who was available to see that Sophia Wilson's SBC gave away a nearly free Lamine Yamal compared ot the price of the currently available SBC. . .it deflates you so bad. Because someone couldn't be online at content release, they miss out on a great card from ANOTHER EA mistake.
o Last year it was the Messi guarantee pack...this year its Yamal. You all think these are just brush offs, but to the folks who see everyone else running around with these cards its just another punch in the face.
o Quality of Content - The SBCs and chosen players they were fine. You're never going to please everyone.
• Did the objectives, SBCs, and Evos feel worth your time?
o No - not at all. The only reason I do an SBC is because of sentimental connection to a card. The value of the SBC is rarely on point. SBC prices should not be driven by market price. It's untradeable. It's apples to oranges.
o You need to stop looking at market value to price SBCs. You also need to be a little more aware of what content you've already released and be more unique. Messi vs. Ronaldo SBC is a joke. They both literally were in the last promo, right before TOTY with similar cards. What are we getting now? A second PS. Woohoo. That's not exciting, thats boring.
o EVOs. I want to be clear about this. The Silver Star Icons being able to be put into EVOs was the best thing you've done in a long time. The EVOs and the SS Icons aren't what ruined the EVOs. It's the fact that you moved away from an Overall Rating that actually represents the card.
No one would have Gullits with an Overall of 80 with all 85+ stats if the overall actually inflated along with the EVOs he was put into. We're currently at 86 and sometimes 87 overall EVOs. The Overall shoudl be a weighted calculation based off of the stats and PS's a player has AND including the position. A ST for examples shooting should be weighted heavier than their defending. You're clearly not doing this. Playstyles being very OP need to have a weight assigned as well. It's a simply MATHEMATICAL calculation. . not just a whimsical number that means nothing.
You've overcomplicated your EVO preparation by making OVR worthless. FIX IT.
REMINDER - the Silver Icons weren't the problem Again, best thing you've done in a long time. That's sooooo fun.
• If you could change one thing about FC 26 TOTY, what would it be?
o The Honorable Mentions need to be released first and be available to be packed through the whole promo. I would be 100x happier when I was ripping my packs if I got to see an HM or two through the 2 weeks. Instead I packed the same TOTW cards 50 times.
Day 1 - Friday - All HM & Icons Team 1
Following Monday - HM, Strikers & Midfielders
Following Wednesday - HM, Defenders & Icon Team 2
Following Friday - Full Team TOTY, Full Team HM, both Teams Icons.
o Something like this will be much more engaging. Now, from Day 1. . .all your packs you grind for, all your packs you earn without spending money, you've got a shot of that Blue walkout. You want your players to be excited through the whole thing. Personally, I was burnt out and annoyed by the time the whole team released because I hadn't packed ANYTHING of value. IF you have HM's early on, you'll keep people excited and they'll see blues more often. That's not a bad thing.
