High latency / input delay in EA Sports FC 26 (Sweden, Tele2 fiber)
Hello,
I am playing EA Sports FC 26 on PC from Sweden on a stable fiber connection (Tele2 ISP). Despite having a clean and stable connection, I experience severe input delay in online matches.
I have already excluded FPS-lag since the game itself runs smoothly. The issue only occurs in online matchmaking. For reference, here are my specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5-12400F (12th Gen)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
RAM: 16 GB
Storage: 1 TB SSD
Monitor: AOC 1080p, 165 Hz
This setup runs all modern games smoothly and handles EA Sports FC 26 without any FPS issues. The system is well-balanced for both performance and stability. My main issue is not hardware-related (FPS is perfect), but the network latency and input delay when connecting to EA servers.
To exclude issues on my side, I have performed extensive testing (see attached file).
Actions I have already taken:
- Playing on Ethernet (not Wi-Fi)
- Configured static IP + port forwarding (TCP 80, 443, 3659 and UDP 3659, 3074)
- Adjusted Windows Firewall to allow EA App and FC 26
- Closed all background traffic (no other devices consuming bandwidth)
- Tested with and without VPN (no improvement)
- Talked with my ISP and showed them logs (they confirmed it is a server-side issue related to EA routing)
Conclusion:
My connection is clean: 0% packet loss, stable ping, no jitter.
However, the latency is always ~120 ms, which strongly suggests that I (as a Swedish player) am always routed to EA servers located in the US (Virginia).
This is clearly a server-side issue, specifically an EA routing/server location problem. My PC, network, and ISP connection are all stable. The delay comes from being forced onto US servers instead of EU ones.
My questions:
1. Why am I being routed to the US?
2. Is it possible to prioritize my account/matches towards EU servers?
3. Are you aware of the latency/input delay issues for Nordic players, and are there plans to improve this?
4. Can you help me optimize routing/peering to reduce delay?
Best regards,
Willekstrand
Of course, this is also a discussion, so feel free to jump in everyone!
