Career Mode gameplay issues; feedback
I’ve been playing FC forever — probably since 2002. Every year I enjoy Career Mode and I’m happy to see how it evolves. The best proof that you keep improving the game for offline players is that I used to play around 150 hours a year, and today it’s closer to 800.
However, there are a few things that have been frustrating me for many years, and nothing seems to change. I also know that many of these issues don’t exist at all in competing games:
1. Lobbed through balls almost always land perfectly on the receiver’s head, which doesn’t reflect how it works in real football.
2. Crosses into the box almost always go behind the attacker, and the receiving player is constantly surrounded by a perfectly positioned defender. This makes scoring from crosses extremely difficult, even though in reality many goals come from crosses.
3. The pitch feels too narrow during positional play, which makes attacks look repetitive and the gameplay becomes monotonous.
4. Too many goals are scored from very close range, mainly because building up play in positional attacks is too difficult — which links back to point 3.
5. The most important point: CPU intelligence in positional attacks feels unchanged for 20 years. Long-range shots either go straight in or don’t happen at all. The CPU almost never crosses from open play, rarely shoots after corners, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cross from a free-kick. CPU set pieces are limited to just a few patterns, which strongly reduces immersion and gameplay satisfaction.
6. Weather effects need improvement. For example, playing in the rain — puddles on the Santiago Bernabéu look nothing like reality.
I hope this feedback is well received. Competition in the market grows every year, but I still believe in you. Thanks!
