FC 27 refund requested on time, denied after EA told me to wait

I'm asking EA community staff to escalate this to someone who can review it, because EA Support chat says it cannot escalate further.

Summary: I bought EA SPORTS FC 27 on the EA app (PC) on Oct 29, 2026 ($48.99, order 1006927747149). The game does not respond to my PS4 DualShock 4 controller, which works correctly in Windows. I have bought EA games through Steam for four years with no controller problems; this only happened with the copy bought from EA's own platform. I played about one hour and requested a refund.

Oct 30 (case #257724918): Advisor Jarrel said "everything looks good on your end", told me to wait 3-5 days for the payment to clear, said the $48.99 would then go back to my original Visa, and noted the request date on the case.

Nov 4: I followed up as instructed. Advisor Versha denied the refund, blaming the controller, and said she could not transfer the case. On case #258057937, advisor ctro acknowledged the request was made "well within the proper window", and Technical Support advisor Jason V wrote that "the original refund request was made on time and any delay may have resulted from following instructions provided by EA Support". He still denied the refund and said no complaint reference or other channel exists.

So EA confirms I requested on time, confirms the delay came from EA's own instructions, and still refuses. I'm not trying to avoid paying: I want either a fix for the DualShock 4 issue in the EA app version, or the refund so I can buy the game where my controller works.

Related cases: #257724918, #258056198, #258057937. I have screenshots of every conversation. Could an EA community manager please escalate this for a goodwill review? Thank you.

All of this is covered in the refund help article 861f015fdd74751d

If you submit a chargeback for a refund that’s outside of our refund policy, we may take one of the following actions to protect accounts from suspected fraud:

    • lock or restrict your EA Account
    • remove the content charged back.

If you review the directive you refer to it does not regulate or relate to chargebacks.

Interesting, Darko. So just to be clear, are you saying that if a customer exercises their consumer rights and disputes a charge because a product was not delivered as advertised, EA may retaliate by banning their entire account, including access to other games they've legitimately purchased?

Because that raises some serious questions under EU consumer protection law, particularly Directive 2019/770, and potentially applicable consumer protection laws in the US.

There's a significant difference between fraudulent chargebacks and legitimate payment disputes raised in good faith after a company refuses to provide a remedy.

Are you seriously suggesting that EA treats both the same way, and that consumers risk losing their entire game library simply for challenging a purchase?

I'd appreciate a clear answer, especially since you're speaking here as an official EA Community Manager.

Sorry to say alkurdi101 but if not eligible for a refund and our live support team have confirmed this then a refund would not be possible.

For the issue with controllers, the team are aware of it and looking into it.

Additional evidence that this is an FC 27 issue, not my controller: another player on the EA app version reports the same DualShock 4 problem here: FC27 PC: DualShock 4 Stops Working on Bluetooth When Game Starts | EA Forums - 13724694 . In that report, the same controller, PC and Bluetooth setup work perfectly in FC 26 but stop working as soon as FC 27 starts. EA Support denied my refund saying the problem was my controller. I'd ask EA to take this into account and review my cases #257724918 and #258057937.

Thanks for replying, Darko. I did follow those steps first: the Refund Tool shows "You don't have any eligible games or a history of refund requests", even though the order is completed in my Order History. That's why I contacted EA Help, where an advisor recorded my on-time request and told me to wait, and later advisors denied it while confirming the delay came from EA's own instructions. So the issue isn't solved yet. I understand the forum team can't review billing, but could you please pass this thread to the EA Help team or anyone internally who can review cases #257724918 and #258057937? Thank you.
