Xbox One – Extremely washed out / grey colors after FC 27 loads

The Xbox dashboard and all my other games display perfectly normal colors. Even when EA SPORTS FC 27 initially starts, the picture and colors look normal. However, during the loading process, the display suddenly changes and the entire game becomes extremely washed out, grey and overexposed.

From that moment on, both the menus and gameplay remain washed out. The pitch, kits and players have very little contrast, making it difficult to distinguish players during matches.

I have already restored all FC 27 visual/accessibility settings to default:

• Colour Blindness: Default
• Brightness: 5
• Contrast: 5
• High Contrast Gameplay: Off
• High Contrast Menus: Off

I also deleted the local saved data from the Xbox console and restarted the game, but the issue immediately returned.

The important detail is that the colors are completely normal when FC 27 first launches, and then suddenly switch to the washed-out/grey appearance while the game is loading.

This only happens in EA SPORTS FC 27. The Xbox dashboard and other games look normal.

Please investigate this as a possible issue with the Xbox One version of FC 27.

This situation seems to be tied to your personalized settings.

Please try once more to delete the Saved Data for the game from the console and also the Personal Settings File 1 in-game following this guide, then restart the game.

It might help make sure the settings aren't changed again while the game loads up.

If you exit out of the game to the Xbox menu does the image return to normal?

This looks like it could be HDR related, I see it with some titles on the PS5 but switching to another input and then back fixes it.

The game is practically unplayable like this.

EA_Darko​ Yes. As soon as I exit FC 27 and return to the Xbox dashboard, the image and colors are completely normal again.

The same is true for every other game on the console. This issue occurs exclusively in FC 27.

When I launch FC 27, the initial startup screen also looks completely normal. Then, at a specific point during loading, the colors suddenly switch to the washed-out/grey appearance and remain that way in both the menus and gameplay.

I have also seen multiple other Xbox One/old-gen players reporting exactly the same washed-out/grey color issue, so it does not appear to be isolated to my TV or console.

I can test HDR-related settings as well if you can tell me exactly which Xbox One setting you would like me to change.

The HDR would likely be TV-related o8stlbwi7dxu​ 

Best thing to do is to go through your TV settings and ensure that the HDR and other are set correctly.

EA_Darko​ EA SPORTS FC 26 also displays perfectly normally on the exact same Xbox One, TV and HDMI input. The problem only occurs with FC 27. This is another reason why I don’t believe this is caused by my TV or its HDR settings.

EA_Darko​ Reddit is also full of reports from other Xbox One/old-gen players experiencing the same washed-out, grey and low-contrast colors in FC 27. Multiple independent users are describing essentially the exact same issue.

Given that FC 26 works perfectly on the same setup and multiple old-gen users are reporting this problem with FC 27, I strongly believe the Xbox One version of FC 27 needs to be investigated for a display/graphics issue rather than treating this as an individual TV configuration problem.

Not saying it isn't o8stlbwi7dxu​ but not seeing reports of this to the point where it is game-related.
