EA NEEDS TO THROW VSA IN THE BIN AND GIVE US SOMETHING REAL
At this point, VSA is a complete joke. It’s not about skill anymore, it’s about who EA decides should suffer that round. You can play perfectly, still lose to some scripted nonsense. Enough is enough.
If EA actually cares about competition, then replace VSA with something that tests skill, not luck — a proper Set Piece Mode.
Here’s the plan:
We both get on the same screen. I take a penalty, you see it live. You dive, I watch it. No stupid AI standing in for us. Real players, real reactions, real nerves. Then we switch. Eleven penalties per side, winner decided by total goals scored.
For free kicks, five attempts each. Still on the same page, both seeing the same thing. You’ll know who actually knows how to curl a ball and who’s been surviving on scripting all this while.
That’s how you test skill. Not this “play against your opponent’s AI” garbage where half the time your keeper turns into a ghost and the other half he turns into Spider-Man.

NOW, A NEW PROBLEM THAT WOULD ARISE AND NEED A QUICK FIX
If you’re going to bring Set Piece Mode, fix the swiping system. Right now, goalkeepers using swipe have a major edge over button users. Swipe gives direction and timing control; button dive is basically guessing and praying.
So here’s the actual control rule, and don’t screw this up EA:
Goalkeepers — swipe only, because diving needs directional nuance and timing.
Shooters — choice of swipe or button-based aim + power gauge, so players on lower-end devices or with different preferences aren’t screwed; button aim should let you pick direction and set power precisely, while swipe offers more nuance for those who want it.
Server-side calibration must decide outcomes based on timing and input, not device sensitivity or screen physics.
Keep it skill-based, not device-based. We don’t need more randomness in this game; we already have enough of that in VSA.

At this point, the only thing VSA is good for is raising people’s blood pressure. EA should stop pretending it’s balanced and give us something that’s actually fair, fast, and fun.
You want to fix the game? Start there.
