Is this the best Franchise mode in Madden in Years...?
Okay, lets start with this one. I read the reviews, and saw the videos. Then recently another review came out about Franchise mode itself, and called it a massive improvement, and far best in about ten years.
So I read it the review, not surprised it highlighted the Coach mode of it, talking about how it puts you in the seats aka sidelines as a coach. We coach like a real coach, we play like a real coach. Then they talked about removing the owner part while putting it with other stuff...combining it into GM, as breath of fresh air. They went on to say that the lack of improvements was based on the owner part of the mode. I found their five star review filled with more questions and wonder if they were paid by EA for the review.
So my own take from the review starts like this, This is not far the best mode in ten years. This is not a massive improvement to Madden. The coaching part was always part of the game, yet it has not made a big difference in playing like your coaching a team. Personally, I loved the owner part cause I controlled everything about my team. I hire and fire a coach, moved the team around, rebuild anytime, move players around like checkers. So by far, removing owner, lumping it in to GM is not improvement. Its just Simply changing the title, while combining most of the owner features. On top of that, a coach is fired, you leave the franchise for another, which for some like me, I want to control the Jets over the 30 years in the game. Not coach, get fired for not meeting their goals, and start with the Giants, Raiders, and or Cowboys. I played the mode, found it a reach on making it better, while ignoring what needed to be fixed. I disagreed that the coach DNA was a must need, when I found nothing that speaks to that level. The focus on coaching, the plays, the play sheets, all that is part of the game but not a must part of the game. I played two season without using the added features and didn't change how I played the games...found it more waste of space having reminders of how my coach would do this play or this play while I ignored of it. The other bigger issue in the review was the gloss over the stuff people been asking for fixing since the new Scouting stuff was done. Same thing for now four years. Scouting is busted, not even a reason to use it, not any impacted on the mode truly. With the coaching, scouting should be natural part of this part, but broke scouting shows the game didn't fix it, didn't do enough to add to it. Instead the review said "Scouting is a fun part of the new coach mode, adding a spin on it being a true coach". I question how they come up with it, since nothing changed since last year. Draft logic is equally bad, and again while doesn't impact the player team; it shows the AI can't do the simple stuff with it.
In the end, I found this one, like many reviews one sided, highlighting a good Madden game when it clearly is far from what the community has talked about for years. I was ready for the new mode, tested, played it, and went back to madden 19 for a better mode. That speaks volumes to me that the new madden is just as bad as the last few ones. Removing owner didn't fix the game, it highlighted what is the big issues with the mode. People didn't ask for just coaching mode now, they wanted similar to the other game franchise mode that let you really control the team, from signing players, to scouting rookies, and better options in simple things like create a team, create a stadium, better options on relocations...sorry most of the choices outside the states is long wasted choices. Its time that EA stops paying for reviews and do their jobs on making the game better.
