Madden 27 Online H2H potential changes that Can Make a Big Impact

Dear EA Madden Team,

I want to share feedback on Head-to-Head (H2H) mode heading into Madden 27, from the community that plays H2H all year and doesn’t touch MUT.

First, thank you for adding the 1-30 PSN ranking display in Madden 26. That was a great addition and the H2H community noticed and appreciated it.

That said, the biggest issue is the season reset. Every 30 days or so, our records and rankings get wiped, and there’s no way to go back and see past seasons. Countless hours of grinding just disappear with nothing to look back on. Honestly, I don’t understand the point of resetting so often if there’s no historical record to show for it. We’re asking you to stop erasing records every 30 days and instead let them build permanently, the way it used to work. If seasonal resets have to stay for ranking purposes, at minimum give us an archive so we can look back at past seasons’ records and rankings.

Second, we’d love to see our opponent’s record and actual global ranking shown briefly on screen during the team comparison at the start of a game, similar to what you did with the PSN ranking in Madden 26. Even just a quick flash showing their win-loss and world rank would add a lot of context and hype before kickoff.

Third, please bring an online playoff bracket to H2H, similar to what College Football 25, 26, and 27 already have. Since it’s proven to work across multiple years of CFB, we know it’s something that can be done, we just want to see it done in Madden too. After a set number of regular season games (say 10), players could qualify for an online playoff bracket that leads to the Super Bowl. It would give the mode a real sense of progression and reward, even for players who aren’t chasing a Top 100 spot. We can count how many Super Bowls we have just like how the CFB community is very proud of how many national titles they have.

I don’t know how much attention a post like this needs to get in likes or comments to reach the right people, but I’ve been playing Madden since it first came out, and I know myself and a lot of others in this community would genuinely appreciate these changes, regardless of how this post performs. We don’t ask for much, but H2H is where a large part of your player base lives all year. These changes would go a long way toward making the mode feel competitive and worth the grind again.

Thanks!

    petemg4 Hey there,

To give you the direct answer: no, none of those changes were implemented for Madden NFL 27.

    344bb2f8a666dbf5 Hey there,

So it is time to get sappy cause i love the feedback posts. First, thank you for taking the time to toss together a well-laid-out breakdown of online Head-to-Head! Having your entire win-loss record and ranking wiped clean every 30 days without any historical archive to show for all that grinding definitely takes the wind out of competing all year long. I don't even know how I would react to that one. 🤔

Next, and yes, it sounds all corporatey, but hey, it's the job. Bringing in a true playoff ladder and Super Bowl progression system—just like the Road to CFP bracket structure in College Football—alongside pre-game opponent rank displays would add massive stakes to every single matchup outside of MUT. So I like it, but being on this side, I can see an issue with that system. So I am curious about how this one would work from start to finish.

I want to wait to pass this one along cause we have plenty of time, but I want to see what others have to say too. In the meantime, if a seasonal playoff structure were added, do you feel a 10-game regular season like College Football's tier system hits the sweet spot for Madden, or would a different game threshold fit the NFL schedule better? They are two very different beasts.

Also, for that pre-game screen, would you prefer seeing your opponent's overall rank tied strictly to their current seasonal tier, or a permanent career win-loss record across the entire game cycle? Which do you think would be more effective game-wise and not just from a few people saying, " Yeah, that would be cool?

Great suggestions! My biggest issue is the accelerated clock with 4 minute quarters. You can run out the clock without even trying. And the hurry up system isn't as robust as cfb 27 so you're kinda stuck running out time on Long drives limiting sometimes to 2 possessions the entire game. But unfortunately if you remember previous Madden  iterations of h2h we're lucky to have even a leaderboard. Online H2H for Madden has been the most neglected game mode in any sports game out.

  • can anyone who’s purchased Madden 27 confirm or deny whether any of these changes were implemented or not?

I couldn’t agree more. Online h2h stats need to be more organized and easily accessible. You used to be able to have access to more stats like your record with specific teams. I forget which madden it was but the stat layout was more user friendly than these past couple maddens. I don’t get why ncaa has season like format for h2h but madden doesn’t.

I play Madden every year head-to-head exclusively in this mode and I totally agree. They need a little mini season like college football has but I would up the ante. I don’t understand why they don’t throw you in an AFC bracket. Or throw you into a full mini 17 game season with 32 other players. If anyone quits they get replaced with someone else. It could auto simulate your season pretty easily and fill in the teams. They could put us all in real leagues, and if anyone quits your automatically replaced. With just a little ingenuity, they could make it much more better and build a community very easily not like franchise where it’s impossible to get into. H2H could just simulate a 17 game season in a multitude of ways. Safer example your next opponent is the Browns. It would search for someone else playing as the Browns or it can play the games out of schedule out of order or it could just change the skins so you see the Browns there’s a lot of different ways they could handle it. At the very least, do it the way college football handles it with a mini playoff.
as for record keeping. I like the monthly reset but they should also store overall records.

The thing is why should we go to an outside source where they’ve created leagues it should be automatic without franchise mode. It should be automatic in the EA game where you’re just placed into a a full league automatically and gets sorted out by skill level.

we shouldn’t have to go to outside url for realistic H2H leagues and the franchise mode doesn’t really fly well.

just stick people into the same 32 team bracket and sort by skill level and replace people who quit out or are inactive.
