[Gameplay] QB Spy reverting to man coverage in certain situations

Product: Madden NFL 22
Platform:PlayStation 5
Which console generation do you have? Sony PlayStation 5
What is your gamertag/PSN ID? IceChief27
Date/time issue occurred Multiple times, legacy issue
What type of issue do you have? Gameplay
Which mode has this happened in? Ultimate Team
Which part of the mode? MUT Champions
Summarize your bug General gameplay bug, any player placed in a spy that is betweeen the offensive player and the assigned man will revert to man and leave the original man in the spy. This is a legacy issue and is consistent and repeatable
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? A running back to the right of the QB being marked by a linebacker or safety to the left of the QB or vice versa with a DT placed into a spy that is between the two players.
What happens when the bug occurs? When the ball is snapped the spy changes to man coverage and the original man becomes the spy often resulting in huge gains of yardage.
What do you expect to see? The player placed in a spy to not be overridden regardless of alignment. Especially troublesome when one DT is too slow to be an effective spy
PS4 Crash Reporting: Please copy the text you put in the crash report here.
What is the AMD or Nvidia Model Number of your graphics card?

  • @icechief27 thank you for reporting this issue! I'm not exactly sure whether I got the issue right. Please could you either add a recored clip or describe an example in detail (e.g. in which formations and plays (offense and defense) you change a defender to a spy). If you do the latter, I could try to reconstruct the bug and upload a video myself (if it is helpful for you).

if you are able to record a clip of this bug but are not able to upload it here (due to file size), you might upload it to youtube and share the link here.

Again, thank you for reporting this issue! After I've read your report, I'm pretty sure that I've seen this issue too already but did not understand it. I was just wondering where my spy was...
