I have the same problem on Xbox. I figured out how to practice but I still crash when trying to invite people to games.
In order to fix the controller in practice...
When in the franchise menus hit the back button to open up the user profile menu. Scroll over to the"characters" tab and select your coach. The menu will refresh and you can once again practice.
Hopefully we can find a fix for actually playing.
It's the most odd thing ever, even if I make a new Online franchise to test I have the same issue. This issue spans on two of my accounts but if I log on my brother Account in the same online league I can practice on his team with no issue.

How can u do that bro I’m having this issue with madden now I can’t send or accept a invite I did game share with my son but that shouldn’t have it crashing like when I’m in franchise mode I go to play my game and it goes to the loading screen then crash to the Xbox Home Screen how do I fix this. I tried going on ea to remove a gamertag but it won’t let me unlink how so u do it
