Re: X factor trait not appearing when earned in cfm
I know this is an old issue, but I have a hunch that i've figured out one of the problems with the X-Factors not activating or working.
My hunch: Players are assigned x-factor traits based on their scheme type, so if you have a rookie with a hidden dev trait who ends up being an x-factor without the need of upgrade scenarios, his x-factor skill is assigned when he is created (even if it's hidden). However, if at some time you upgrade his other skills to make him a different scheme before he is revealed as an X factor, then his X-factor ability will be inaccessible when revealed.
For example: My rookie qb is a hidden x-factor with a strong arm archetype. As I work towards revealing his dev trait, I upgrade his skills so he becomes a Field General archetype. When 500 snaps have been played, he's revealed as a Fearless QB which is associated with "Strong Arm", but he is no longer a Strong Arm QB because I have turned him into a Field General. However, his X-factor ability is tied to his existence as a strong arm QB (which he is no longer), so I cannot activate his X-factor and he doesnt count towards one on the field.
However, if I edited his skills to make him a Strong Arm QB, he would gain the ability, or if I did the development edit trick as outlined in this thread he would get reassigned an X-Factor ability associated with the Field General archetype, for example: the "Omaha" ability. But no matter how many times I edit and redit and 'roll the dice' to try to get his previous trait (fearless), the game won't allow it.
I know this is an old thread for an issue that may or may not plague the 21 variety, but I hope this offers some insight into why some abilities are not active despite being visible.
