Yeah I agree 100%. The problem is their coach mode isn't woking as is. The QB should play for you the problem is he doesn't move at all and eats sacks all games long making this mode completely unplayable. I've been all over the forums trying to get EA to fix this because I think it would greatly improve a ton of peoples experiences with the game. As for bringing in features that would make the franchise mode substantially better imo would look something like this revolving around the idea of hidden stats for players, position coaches, and the addition of training camps again. Ok so you're looking to draft a player. You go to your scout and tell them the positions you're wanting to upgrade. He goes out and finds some guys for you. He tells you their physical traits which aren't exact but you can have a pretty good idea until the combine. Then he tells you what types of players they are aka arc type thing. He tells you what he thinks their upside is going to be and how he seems them fitting in with the team. He will also go into what he thinks the likely hood of the rookie being a bust or a star. Maybe the player is an absolute boom or bust, maybe bust doesn't even appear to be on the table, maybe its a raw player who could be really good but needs lots of development time. Or maybe its simply a good player that doesn't have a high ceiling but will be decent right off the bat. Obviously none of this would be set in stone, but depending on your scout would determine the reliability of the information. Ok so now you draft your player. You don't see any of his stats outside of physical ones and even those are on a small sliding scale for a few weeks. The players go through training camp and your position coaches will come to you and tell you about the players. Give you timelines on development, opinions on where and how the player will best succeed, whether he's ready to go out week one or if he needs more time, ect. This would make training camp and preseason a FAR more vital part of the game. When you go to cut players now you just scroll through the worst players on your team because their stats are all visible and you cut them. In fact myself and if I had to guess just about everyone skips preseason entirely. Doing the game with training camp and preseason along with not knowing your players true stats or upsides makes cutting players far more difficult and makes relying on your coaches and staffs opinions important which in turn makes hiring good staff members extremely important to the development of your team. So as the season goes on, you might learn a little bit more about your rookies but nothing concrete or even close to it unless they are clearly just playing lights out or bad enough to make you want to cut them. Even after the fist season you should be a bit in the dark going into next season. Second season should be a place where a lot of rookies really come into their own or maybe even regress. But again you won't know for sure until they get a couple seasons under their belt or are simply a very consistent player. Your coach selection could make a lot of things like development and consistency a factor for the players under their care. Have a bad coach? Maybe even potentially good players never pan out and vice versa. I'd also like to see coaches have a form of the new player motivation things so that you can't just go out and get the best coaches in the game immediately. It would be really cool to have a whole game system where you can promote coordinators and grab position coaches from other teams and bring them to your team at a higher position if you think they have potential just like in real life. Anyways obviously the odds of any of this happening are slim to none so EA please at the very least just fix the coach mode thats out right now because I'm actually really enjoying 23 from a gameplay perspective and if you guys could come through on fixing coach mode it would make this one of the best maddens in a long long time for me.
