"You can't use this content because of parental controls" for teen account
First of all, I have parental controls set up on the PS5 with a couple of my sons on the system and my son's account is a teen account in Origin, a part of my "family" in my own Origin account.
My son is having an issue getting signed in for online play. When he clicks on the Ultimate Team button, it comes up with a message (Madden 23 background, still -- like we are still on a PS5 screen) that "You can't use this content because of parental controls" and then the next screen is an error screen branded by EA. (Trying to decipher for troubleshooting purposes)
My other son has been able to use other EA stuff. In those cases it's had him send a request to a parent that I could approve for whatever I wished. In this case, I don't even know that we have been able to get to a login screen to link the EA account with the PS account (unless it does so automatically based on player ID).
Does anyone have any idea what I could try? EA support said that you have to be 18 to play online in Madden but I can't believe that is true because my other son is able to play. I think I must have made a mistake somewhere along the line but I can't figure out how to generate the parent request to allow my other son to log into EA stuff. Thanks for any ideas.
Usually, the age to play online is 13 but is different in some regions, 18 is just not correct.
It is possible you are not getting the notification to allow online play if the 'child' account is too young (and the PS account age cannot be changed).
The issue is complicated by the fact that you are dealing with both an EA child account and a PlayStation child account and your region may be having an effect too.
It may be worthwhile contacting support again to see what age the EA child account is set to.
