DisplayName Field Missing from Registry – Unable to Launch Mass Effect LE

Hello, I've been experiencing an issue when trying to launch Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Every time I press "Play," a pop-up window appears with the message: "DisplayName field missing from registry." Despite my efforts, I haven’t been able to resolve it so far. Here are the troubleshooting steps I’ve already tried:

  1. Verified the game files on Steam.
  2. Uninstalled and reinstalled both the EA app and the game.
  3. Cleared the cache for the EA app.
  4. Performed a DNS flush.
  5. Clean booted my PC to rule out third-party software conflicts.
  6. Checked for hidden files in the license folder, but it was empty.

Unfortunately, none of these have worked, and the issue persists.I’d appreciate any advice or solutions from anyone who has faced and resolved this issue.

    So, I contacted support and the agent was able to resolve the issue. They said it was related to the status of my account. In the end, it worked out, and I’ve been dealing with this for over a month. Thank you so much for helping me!

     @thathan7 When you sign in with the EA ID and password you use for the EA account, what message do you get?

    Was the game originally purchased on the same EA account, or was it a code added into Steam?
    Did you have EA Play on Steam or your EA account at any point?

    I bought the game directly on Steam and didn’t use any code to activate it. I’ve also never had an EA Play subscription. When I try to log in, the issue still happens. The "DisplayName field missing from registry" window shows up, but when I try to sign in, it quickly closes and reopens, so I can’t really move forward.

    @thathan7  Thank you. And just to clarify, you deleted the license file and made sure that Steam the EA app and the game are all on the same drive yes?

    The EA App and Steam are on the same drive, I use another SSD to store my games, but I moved the game once to the same drive as EA and Steam, but the problem persisted. As for the license folder, it has always been empty. Should I delete the folder? And thank you for trying to help me.

    @thathan7 Gotcha, thanks. I took a peak into your account, and this is more account related than game related. What you will need to do is reach out to our live support at Help.ea.com and have them go over your account with you. Once that is done, that error should go away.

    Make sure that you use account options not game options. The issue is a login issue not a launch or connection issue, so make that clear with them.
