how do I play mass effect offline using ea app

Hi @demonicninja01 Are you getting a specific error message, or does the game just force you to go online?

EA App does have an offline mode, but you will have to periodically go online so as to ensure that the licenses are fully up to date and working.

I bought it from steam, i tried to use the ea app stay connected but offline and steam offline also.

after that it doesn't let me open the game anymore, it just states that i'm offline

I can confirm the same exact scenario for me. I cannot play this SINGLE PLAYER game offline. With Origin, it worked just fine offline. But like you, I bought it through Steam, and since this ridiculous “forced” change to the EA app, my copy will not even boot when offline.

My other games work, but for some reason, ME: Legendary Edition just won’t even load unless I’m online. I don’t keep my computer online all the time, and primarily play single player games. This “must be online” for a SINGLE PLAYER game, or three games, rather,  is completely pointless. 

I'm having the same issue trying to login to ME: Legendary offline. When Origin failed to properly launch in offline mode, I could still go into the game file location and launch it from there. EA app doesn't allow this. Ridiculous. I really think EA is trying to go out of business. Because I'm not spending another red cent with them if I can't have unimpeded access to my purchased games.

Get rid of this "go periodically on online to verify credentials" nonsense. If I want to spend two years offline playing a single-player game (or any game for that matter) then that's what I want to do! I demand unfettered access to my games!

Thank you for the feedback on being in offline mode. I tested this out to see the best solution and here is what I found running both apps.

1. When playing through Steam (offline mode) with Origin in online mode, the game will not launch.
2. When playing through Steam In basic online mode, but the EA App is in offline mode, you get the following message:
   
   

As MELE is one of the games listed there when you click the play button and it should launch for you. MELE does have to go online at least once to check for updates, sync the acct, and basic sync-up options. After that, you should be able to play offline.

I've tested this out each way I could with both offline and online settings in both Steam and the EA App. Currently, the only way to get it to work is to have both online, log in and then swap it back to offline mode if that is what you wish.

Is this likely to change any time soon?

I know that the game used to be able to be launched and played offline.

I just bought this game, but I'm often offline so if I can't launch it offline then I'll be returning it.

It seems shortsighted to punish people who have a legitimate copy of the game by forcing them to only be able to play while online.

@mvukomanovic This has been a big request from the community but currently there have not been any updates on if or when it will happen with the app.

So I have a question on that, does EA just hate the community? I work for the US Navy and have to go underway which means no online access with my computer, and with this (I'm hoping it is just a bug or glitch from EA) issue I cannot play MELE while underway since it is Single Player, the point of Licenses which Steam has mastered but EA has not is that you can play those games while offline. There is nothing in MELE that requires online except an update which I don't think has happened in MONTHS and we still get screwed because EA can't fix their issue....Correct?
