Mass Effect 2 freezes up game and computer

Question

So, I have been having problems launching Mass Effect today. I had this problem with ME1 first and then I got it running. Everytime I boot into ME2 I get to the main screen and just as the "New Content Found" option pops up, the game freezes. I have tried every compatability mode, running as admin, disabling cloud saves, I deleted the ME1 file I imported, the works. Not only does it freeze everytime I have to reboot my entire computer because it locks up everything. Any advice?

Have you installed the latest Origin version on your PC and disabled the In Game overlay function via the application settings? It would be good if we would know a little bit more about your PC hardware details.
