Mass Effect 3 crashes to desktop mid-gameplay, but the game is still running in the background

So, I'm playing ME3 again, and I seem to be having this issue where the game crashes to desktop mid-gameplay, but it's still running in the background. Is there like an update or something that I need to download? Or could it be Origin that keeps crashing being the piss poor platform that it is?

Please help, this is maddening lol.
