ME2LE - Hammerhead issues

So I don't think I have to talk much about the painful (literally!) sound of resource gathering (Topic 1, Topic 2, Topic 3). How did they leave this out of the initial patches is just completely beyond me.

However, I just got to the Overlord DLC on PC, and my experience is the same as it was on XSX - the Hammerhead desperately needs a buff. I've played on Insanity both times, idunno how good/bad it is on lower difficulties. But on Insanity, it's a joke, you cannot take out one single turret in an open 1v1 - the "combat" is firing some rockets, then hiding behind a rock while the damage alarm is going off, then repeating this until the turret blows up.

Add the fact that there is no HUD! You are supposed to know when exactly the Hammerhead blows up based on some sound cue. Sure, there's also some visuals, but you get so easily obliterated that it doesn't even matter. It's especially great when fighting the two YMIR mechs near a bloody waterfall - good luck in recognising the alarm in time under the extremely loud sound of the water and explosions.

I suppose this board is a total waste of time at this point though. Shame.

  • I recommend not doing the DLC missions on Insanity, unless they are Zaeed and Kasumi, and just beat the main story only to go at the 3 DLC side quests with a lower difficulty so that there aren't  trophy hunting issues. It would have been great had Bioware given the tank an upgrade path like they did with the Normandy in ME2.

Kasumi's mission is hella difficult if you are doing it early game - which I have, since I'm playing as a Sentinel now, and I needed the Locust. I can't even imagine getting through the game all the way to Haestrom with that crappy starter SMG...

But it's fine, it's just difficult without being actually frustrating. When you need to cheese out fights (as is the case with the Hammerhead), well that's a bummer for me.

Anyway, I do everything on Insanity. If something heavily differs from the overall experience (e.g. Hammerhead in ME2 or the initial Citadel DLC combat in ME3), I tend to mark it up as a mistake on the game's part.

I've also done Arrival's Object Rho battle on my XSX playthrough like that, only to find out that the achievement does not exist anymore, lol. The pain...

The "bee" part is also pretty correct. Considering that it fires rockets, the damage output feels worse on the armored turrets than Mordin's heavy incinerate ability...

@felker_s I continue to beat Object Rho and I just love being able to win all 5 rounds only to be destroyed by the "EMP," but I do that in easy as I just want the stress gone by then. I play on Normal except when I was earning the 3 Insanity trophy (which thankfully unlocked without problems unlike the Paramour 3 trophy).
