ME3 Multiplayer unable to connect to lobbies

I have been playing ME3 MP since pretty much the beginning, took a break from it for about a year, and started up again about six months ago. Up until this year (2019) I have had only the normal connection issues in joining and staying in lobbies. However, in the past couple of weeks, my ability to connect to lobbies has pretty much stopped. It's nearly impossible to connect to friend lobbies now, and when searching for random lobbies I either can't find any in a half hour search, or will join one only to find myself lobby leader with no one else there. I have not changed my internet provider, software, or hardware in over 12 months, the only different thing is that I moved to a new house (in the same city) a little over a month ago.

I have checked all the basic things as per the connection issues thread. My ports appear to be set up correctly. I have set ME3 and Origin as exceptions on my firewall. I have run both Origin and the game as administrator. I frequently clear DNS cache. I repair the game files at least once a day. Nothing helps.

I am super frustrated and don't know what else I can do, I'm not a technical expert by any stretch of the imagination and am using online guides to assist. Please halp ☹️ I have attached my tracert and msinfo, if anything is is necessary let me know.

  • Hey man, how's it going? By your post, not so good. I've had some issues too of late, but mine are more about repeatedly getting the "You have lost your connection to the Mass Effect 3 server" or "You appear to be offline" (I'm not offline). It got pretty bad there for a while, over the past 3 weeks or so, but this week it seems to have calmed down.

To your problem, well, I just don't know. For myself, I made the decision long ago to always be the host. I rarely if ever go joining other games. Perhaps if I or anyone on your list knows you're on you can be invited into a lobby, maybe that would work? Reason I say it is because years ago I was having serious issues with friends not being able to join my hosted games, and I had to invite them in for it to work for them. Since those days I have gotten a new gaming rig and have updated and enhanced my internet connection and speed, and haven't noticed those issues lately.

Hey I hope to see youi back on there, you're a good player. Cheers!

  • Of course I spoke too soon. As soon as I said things were better this week with that disconnecting problem I go into the game and sure enough I've been disconnected from the server three times now in the span of about 3 hours.

Anyway Juweee, I was thinking about your problem some more, and a question was raised.... are you setting your status in Origin to "online" rather than "invisible"? I don't for sure know if that does anything, but I was told by another player on my friends list years ago that that makes a difference when trying to join friends games.

Also, and again I'm not sure how much this plays a part, but I also read recently that it helps smoother game play if you open your task manager (right-click on START), and set your ME3 process priority to "high" (in the details tab). I've been doing this one for a while now and it seems to lessen my connection, or rather disconnection problem, but it doesn't solve it completely.

Hopefully one of the high-octane tech experts around here can weigh in and clear some of this up and offer a more solid solution.
