PSA Problem with HDR

Guys after 3 days i figured out a problem with MELE.

Basically every time i tried to run a ME1 screen went black and i had to restart the pc using ctrl alt canc.

So after a lot of tries i figured out that even i set HDR to off, no matter the settings what happends is:
Click the game icon, EA Desktop starts, MELE Launcher starts, Splash screen comes, Windows switch to HDR (no matter the settings) to show the "press a key to continue" screen, i press a key, Windows switch to SDR and the game starts.

Now the problem is that windows doesn't support HDR on a cloned screen and i stream on youtube, so i have my screen cloned to another pc with a capture card, let's call the second pc streaming pc.
When the ME launcher runs there is no problem as it runs in SDR. As soon as i run mass effect 1 even if HDR is disabled in the option, right after the splash screen, the game force windows to switch to HDR for the screen where you are required to press a key to continue, then he switch back to SDR. If the pc with the capture card is off everything works perfectly as windows is able to manage HDR on a regular screen, but if the streaming pc is on, right after the splash screen everything freezes as Windows forces the HDR and it is not able to manage a cloned screen with HDR on.
So the solution i found is to set the game in borderless window while the streaming pc was off as in borderless mode HDR doesn't work:P and now everything works and i can also stream the game.
A better solution would be if the developers can look into it and just disable the switch to HDR right after the splash screen if HDR is off.

Sorry for my english, it is not my first language, i hope it can help

  • @Tecchizzato Hi, I had this issue myself today while playing the Mass Effect Legendary Edition from the EA Launcher. Seeing as EA hasn't responded to your post, I assume they aren't working it or don't care.

My monitors do not support HDR so its turned off in windows and the game. However whenever I tab out of the game, the monitor with the game goes scrambled. I left the game running while afk and when I returned, it scrambled in game without alt-tabbing. After closing the game it remained scrambled. I have 2 monitors and the other monitor was fine. I changed the display mode in windows to 'duplicate' and that fixed the game monitor. However changing the display mode to 'extend' or using only the game monitor would revert it to being scrambled. (This is after closing the game and a full restart). I have a 2070 Super and my drivers are all up to date.

I managed to fix it by turning HDR off in the windows display settings. No reason it should have been on as I have not touched that for years and my monitors do not support it. Looks like ya'll never fixed this HDR problem...

DXdiag attached if any EA tech even reads this...
