[Resolved] Mass Effect 3 (2012) Activation Error

@EA_Shepard Thanks for the quick response! I attached a screenshot of the error from the EA App when starting the game.

EDIT: I've added a second attachment showing the "offline" error if I try to enter my product key manually. Signing into my account doesn't change anything besides adding my information into the error message.

@FCGrizzlyAdams Thank you. When you moved the license folder did you just move it or delete all files in the folder? If you deleted them, was the al hidden files option checked so it shows those to delete as well?

I've had the exact same issue with Mass Effect 3 for the past 2-3 weeks (I think my problems started on Feb 10 or 17, not sure).

The difference with the OP is that I purchased the game in December 2023, just a couple months ago. It was working all fine until I started getting the exact same activation problem as the OP. I get the same error windows and dialogues so I won't post screenshots. It's the same. In my case, I've never interacted with Origin and never had an Origin account. I've only played through the EA App.

I've tried submitting a case via the EA Help website but it seems to just go in a black hole. The system says that it registered my case but only gives a blank case number. Then, when I go look at my cases, it says I don't have any. I've already tried to submit twice with the same result.

Then, I tried to go on the Help Chat. That one just gives me a "Major Error. Please try again later" (I tried with Edge and Firefox, and please don't tell me to try with Chrome. EAGames should support all 3 browsers like every other major company on the Internet). So, it looks to me like EA games does not offer support to its customers at all. Just a bunch of webpages that look like a system exists but does not provide any service.

I must say this whole experience is extremely disappointing.

I hope something comes out of this thread and thank the OP for starting it.

@EA_Shepard I've tried both moving the entire folder out as well as deleting all licenses and also deleting just the relevant 71183.dll. I hadn't tried looking for hidden files before, but I just tried this and no additional files beyond just the 71183.dll are in the License folder.

@FCGrizzlyAdams Had some changes made to the account. you can repair the game and delete the license folder again to see if it works now. However, what I would do is uninstall it, and completely clean out any registry entries with like CCleaner or Revo for example and then do a fresh install of the game.

I would clear the EA app cache first, then repair the game or just do a full reinstall.

Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work. I've cleared the EA App cache, then repaired the game to no avail. I then tried uninstalling the game and then re-installing for the same result. I still get the same Origin activation problem window.

Please let me know if there's something else I could try.

@EA_Shepard I tried uninstalling with Revo Uninstaller and cleared my temp folder as well, made sure License folder was empty, but it still gives me the activation error on launch after a fresh reinstall.

@FCGrizzlyAdams @fiendishtiara When changes were made there were some errors on supports end. This may be affecting them even though the accounts are in good standing. We will have to check bak on these once those errors stop. I will keep this aside. If things change let me know.
