SOLVED - Virmire Survivor recruitment cutscene will not fire

Full disclosure, I run a pretty mod-heavy game, but I've already confirmed that none of my DLC mods are the cause of this. I've also never used rapid transit in any area of the game, so I'm 99% sure that's not the cause either.

I cannot get the Virmire Survivor recruitment cutscene to fire when I head back to the Normandy from the docking bay after the Citadel Coup (Priority: Citadel II). I select "Yes" to go back to the ship at the door, it fades to black, then I'm still at the door as if I hadn't selected it yet. If I select the door again, it takes me to the Normandy, just like every other time. From there, the game assumes Kaidan went to work with Hackett.

I'm willing to vanilla out the game to get it working again, but that's my last-resort option. Google's been no help; I found a Yahoo Answers post that looked like the OP had same problem, but no one actually answered the question. Anyone have any other ideas for troubleshooting this?? ☹️

I don't know if I should help you, I mean you killed Ash... 😉 🙂

    Ok, seriously,

    - make a backup of your "BIOGame" folder under  ">Drive<:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3" (verify the size against the Original folder)

    - delete the DLC mods (you did backed them up with the step above.)

    - make a backup of the two "binkw23.dlls" under ">Drive<:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32"

    - vanilla the game.

    - see if the scene triggers as expected.

If yes, save back on the Normandy.

    - Copy the "BIOGame" folder with the mods back into the "Mass Effect 3" folder. (overwrite)

    - Copy the "binkw23.dlls" back into the "Win32" folder. (overwrite)

    - enjoy your game.
