Starts up, but no picture, has sound, cursor, can interact

I bought the trilogy for like 10 bucks on origin. After troubleshooting my way through the first game and finally succeeding I ultimately ended up having to install Mass Effect 2 on my wife's computer. FIrst, a run down of what happens. Then, system specs quickie.

So the game installed just fine (4th time installing it). However, when I start the game the screen is black. The intros, I can hear them play, after the intros end my cursor pops up and I can even interact with the menu. To the point if you know the general layout by heart you can get a new game started. If I do nothing, after a few moments the trailer will play. There is no stuttering, it sounds smooth like it should. It simply is NOT showing up.

I had this problem with the first game and finally broke down and accepted that I simply HAD to run it in window mode. To some, not a big deal, to me it pulled me out of being lost into the game a lot.

I have tried, multiple resolution changes. Same result.

WIndow mode/Full screen, full screen window. Same Result.

Run in compatibility, started with xp, worked my way down to the bottom. Same Result.

Updated drivers. Same Result.

Manually modified the gamersettings.ini  Same Result.

Uninstall/Reinstall. Same Result (did I mention I did this 4 times?)

Launched with absolute minimum settings. Same Result.

Running as admin. Same Result

Checked all settings in properties (256 colors, 640x480, etc) Same Result.

Disabled origin overlay. Same Result

Disabled cloud saves. Same Result
