VAULTS | Their real purpose. Your thoughts?
I was mulling over this idea – surely, most likely wasting my time with it – of the purpose of a Vault.

I'm only on my second play through and can't remember everything from the first, but I was under the impression that the Scourge was purposely deployed to counter what the Jardaan were doing.
As in, I feel like they stated this somehow/somewhere in the game. But I don't remember so that could have just been a fever dream I was having, lol.

I just did the mission to meridian where you find out a lot of stuff about this.
The Scourge is referred to as the weapon of the opposition and they left the core of meridian to draw fire so that the rest could get away to come back later to continue the process of renewal.
So the purpose is called renewal and the scourge is from the Jardaal's enemy.
So yeh, it does seem to be on purpose.
