Wired DualShock 4 controller Issue in EA App

Looking forward to returning to Mass Effect 1 in the Legendary Edition and using a wired Dualshock 4 controller to do so, and I find there is zero controller functionality in the game through the EA App. A quick look at forums shows this is not an issue with the game through Steam (Big Picture Mode) and previously worked through Origin, so what gives?

If you're going to force a launcher on us, at least make sure it works with the most basic of input devices. I have zero issues with controller support through Steam and Battle.net, and it doesn't look like there are any official fixes or patches for this issue.
