Bug, can't give podium to mayor

There is an game breaking bug in My Sims on switch, I cannot give the podium to the mayor as the give button does not appear. I press left or right on my D pad, I have the podium in my backpack, but ...

    Hey all, 

    Just to confirm, did you fully complete the podium? 

    You also need to paint it with the apple essence before you can gift it to her.

Thanks, that was actually my problem. I hadn't realised that I needed to paint the podium. Honestly I feel like this could have been made a bit clearer.
