MySims Kingdom - Capital Island Harbor Quest

I have completed the Harbor Quest task and opened the gate. The task says I am finished and the gate it open. I can go stand next to the royal boat but I can't get on it. Eveyone is still asking for gears even though I used them to open the gate. How do I trigger the same to recognize that I have completed the task and let me move forward with the game.
