This is fixable. They just aren't aware or haven't been bothered enough to. This happened a few years ago and was fixed.

I just got done chatting with them and their awareness is definitely improved compared to when my friend tried earlier today - at that time they were proposing individual user fixes related to account, restoring licences and so on. When I chatted, they now seem aware of the issue and aware that it is server-side. It was also iterated that this was not a planned outage or server shut down.
